Despite it's higher value, we don't read about counterfeit £2 coins as much, so I guess they're onto something.

Of course you can confuse people by trying to pay with an old £2 coin, the are like large versions of the £1 but only single metal. Also, in the fun category, paying with scottish £1 notes :) (Or anyother Scotch note for that matter).

Indeed huzzah for Budget day.

Although a leftie, I remain largely better off at the moment. Combination of job improvements and favourable taxation changes.

Tax allowance goes up for me, and I do suspect we might see Beer duty stay the same, or come down a bit. Last budget had a major surprise of the Beer Escalator being abandoned, and a penny off the duty. Went down v well with most publicans!

yeah that's what came of it... though originally when the Pope gave that title to a certain Henry VIII of many wives (for writing a book in defence of the Sacraments and generally staying loyal to Rome despite the Reformation going on...) there was no Church of England yet. That was founded a couple of years later when the selfsame Henry VIII broke with the pope over a divorce and general discord and thought it would be neat to have his own church where no old man from Rome could tell him which girl he could marry... Yeah I'm kind of bored with it too to be honest, it usually just brings out the closet sexists. As I said 40k is one of the better sci-fi settings for treatment of women in general terms, inclusion in the actual literature is another issue.

I have a huge army of Sororitas, my Guard are about 50% female (thank you High Elves), who knows what the Mechanicum are anymore, but my Space Marines are a solo sausage fest, and I, for one, see no problem with that...?

Yup. The problem is with the model range and codex characters more than the background. I mean with Eldar you have no gender discrimination but all of one female character in the codex and only a handful of female sculpts in the model range (Banshees, Jain zar, two Guardian torsos) and with Dark Eldar you have two female characters in the codex but a 50/50 split in the model range. With IG you have basically no female models at all despite most planets having female or mixed gender regiments.

I think the trouble with Space Marines is only that the in-universe explanation is complete nonsense so people keep saying 'well why not?'.

In English there are strong verbs and soft verbs. Strong verbs are ones which are inherited from Old English, Saxon et al. and the past tense modifies the verb signifcantly, Weak verbs are ones where the past tense just adds an -ed to the word.

Most new verbs are created as weak verbs.

So I propse we make Text and Blog strong thus creating Taxt and Blag (instead of texted and blogged).

In addition a couple of strong verbs have been made weak, so glide and thrive will be made strong again giving us glad and throve.

Bucking this trend though is sneak which should be weak but the strong form of "snuck" has sneaked in. This is an abomination and must be stopped. (Yes stopped not stap).
