That's not a bad idea at all. I will have to have a think about that. I saw someone do it with skull transfers on a vehicle. Looked good.

Shaw, the army is just amazing.
I keep looking at them - the sense of defiance, and unshakable will in the face of a grueling, dirty campaign - and it hit me.
You're entire force makes me think of the Iron Cage. Dorn led a hardened core of IF survivors out of that hellhole of the Iron Warriors and they were reborn as a Codex Chapter. I think without even meaning to, you've captured that event and those hardened core of survivors with your force.
Bravo!
Looking absolutely brilliant. They really look as if they've been campaigning for a few years in a row... :D

Just caught up with this tread from the beginning so thought I'd chime in. Seriously nice army you've got here Shaw, gives the impression of grimy, grizzled vets who fight hard and give no quarter. Perfect for the fists I'd say!

Can't believe its been over a month since my last post. I am working on the command squad at the moment but they are taking a little longer because I decided to paint strip my previous paint job.
Here's a few objectives I've also been working.
http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr212/michaelshaw55/Imperial%20Fists/image-17.jpg (http://s485.photobucket.com/user/michaelshaw55/media/Imperial%20Fists/image-17.jpg.html)
That's a iron warrior contemptor, dead iron hand marine, a dead iron warrior & a homing beacon.
I've also made,
http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr212/michaelshaw55/Imperial%20Fists/image-18.jpg (http://s485.photobucket.com/user/michaelshaw55/media/Imperial%20Fists/image-18.jpg.html)
A dead Deathguard marine and finally,
http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr212/michaelshaw55/Imperial%20Fists/image-19.jpg (http://s485.photobucket.com/user/michaelshaw55/media/Imperial%20Fists/image-19.jpg.html)
One dying Imperial Fist.
Them iron hand and Deathguard are both there as my mates play them. Just need to add a transfer to the iron hands marine and paint up the next two objective markers.
Cheers!

The army has indeed been a labour of love.
Here's a new army shot.

I've been working on the command squad who are still a work I'm progress at the moment. I'm also working on a few more special & heavy weapons so I can make the bolter marines into 40k tactical squads and use them in the heresy as a heavy support squad & tactical support squad.
I will also be adding another Typhon & a fellblade of some type into the army :)
Here's a couple of WIP shots.

My latest addition from Xmas is currently on the painting table,

I've also been working on the command squad but the dog ate the standard (limited edition!) so I've had to replace it with a new red scorpion one. They've taken a little longer than I. Expected but they are nearly there.

ARGHHHHH the dog ate it!
So how many times has your dog eaten parts of your figures now?
Still I know what having pets are like, I had a cat who would go to sleep on my books/papers when I was reading, and my current cat likes to give my figures a whack with his paws, just because they are "In His Way"!
As for your army, just taken most of the morning looking through your posts, fine work there Shaw, love the work on your tanks most of all.

Here are a few quick shots of my "finished" command squad. I am tempted to go back and redo the praetor as he's a fair amount darker than the rest. But il finish the second Typhon first. Although I have been a little distracted painting my old orc blood bowl team.

Wow! Those Typhon's look awesome! What's crossing the paint table next? How about some wish listing?
Seeing as Alexis Polux and Sigismund are in the next book, Dorn himself might not be far off. If you were tackling Dorn, would you give him the same battle grime as the rest? Or would you tone down the dirt and grit?

Cheers, I picked the book up yesterday so I'm currently going through it working out what to do with all the lovely new rules and how that might affect my current army lists.
I'd like to have sigismund and I do expect forge world to do a model of him as he is such a iconic character and has some fantastic rules.
As for Dorn, if workshop ever made a plastic thunder hawk if have him in his personal transport ;) but I've not put much thought into painting him, I'm sure he will look very different to the standard marines, being gold. I'd go for a similar looking gold to what I achieved on the banner above.
Cheers!

This whole log is inspiring to say the very least.
I love the weathering, makes me want to grime up my Iron Hands more as everything I was calling finished, just doesn't look it anymore!

Cheers. That's exactly what I did to separate units. What I once thought was finished was actually far from it.
Had a nice couple of days browsing over the latest book. I won't be adding much to the army but Sigismund will definitely be making a appearing and my command squad look like they will become a unit of Templar brethren.
I cracked the weathering powders out this morning and did a little to each tank to mesh them all together, I also did the same to the contemptors. I'm a lot happier with them now.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m40/shaw3029/image_zpsf1a7bdba.jpg (http://s100.photobucket.com/user/shaw3029/media/image_zpsf1a7bdba.jpg.html)

My plan is to just add a couple of new bits as and when they come out. I'm very much looking forward to the weekender in May. Who knows we might even see Sigismund, he's on the cover of the ticket after all ;)

I've stolen one of my contemptors to add to my ongoing iron warriors army, however I decided to upgrade the existing contemptors with a havoc launcher.

Thanks Darren, really glad you like them.
I've made a little progress on the army, and a little more on my iron warriors but I have bee distracted by my old flames of aware rarely and am currently painting some more of them.
But I have gone and re done 15 tactical marines, neaten end up both the dreadnought so after the latest addition of the havoc launcher. The fit in better together now.
I have also added another member to the command squad as I think il be using them as Templar brethren which need 5 men, so here is a wip shot of him,
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m40/shaw3029/imagejpg1_zpsee8c72c9.jpg (http://s100.photobucket.com/user/shaw3029/media/imagejpg1_zpsee8c72c9.jpg.html)
Il get some pictures up of the other things I've mentioned early next week,
Cheers.
