View Full Version : March Releases

It's getting spring, the birds sing more often. :D
Yet another confirmation for the coming releases: March has the new paints, Thunderwolves and the Tervigon kit. Preorders for this by end of March.
Salt to be applied as usual.
I assume he means pre-orders up by the end of February for March.

Some the Nids are screaming out for a lot of stuff and all they get is one model. Good move there
Nice to see Wolves, eventually.
No Necrons though? Which means another month down the line with no new releases, just another 2nd wave.
Again - Disappointing. GW seem to have done bugger all except one expensive model only marine players will want for the anniversary

And a lot of releases for LotR.
Might not be popular on BoLS, but there's a big following around here.

I am pretty sure he means pre-order 25th Feb, as that would tie in with what I have heard, which is 1 or 2 40K wave releases in March.
I had it down as 'Nids then 'Crons, small release for 'Nids on pre-order 25th Feb followed by slightly larger release for 'Crons a couple of weeks later.
One of the kits I had heard coming in March was a dual 'Nid kit with Tervigon and something else not seen before, with rules for that in WD so I guess if that's the case we should know in a week or so.
And if they reease a Tervigon there should be no reason to hold back Thunderwolves so it's possible they could come soon, but I haven't heard anything (not that means much these days as it seems very hard to get any rumours).
I was told there would be 2birthday presents" on 25th for 40K players (and not the ones mentioned in WD) so Thunderwolves and 'Nids would be very cool.

Its nice to see nids get something, but personally I would like to see a new release codex. Surely its about time for one ? My preference would be for either Chaos or Tau.

As you can see there are 2 Tau Events in the week right after the 25th and 2 Chaos Specials in the following week... so make of it what you want ;)

I'd make nothing of that.
a) Its in German :P
and b) Maybe Tau and Chaos are the big armies in that area? or maybe the manager just really likes them? it looks similar to the half term activites sheets we get in stores in the UK, and mostly those events are at the managers discretio. And 2 of those events are "Veteran Abend" - so the stores Vet Nights, again same as in the UK

Interestingly though it does have Saturday 3rd March as being a new release day, which does suggets pre-orders for something at east on 25th Feb, which is the 40K anniversary party day.
It may be nothing, but fingers crossed. :)

This also implies a lot of disappointment to be honest. Rumors will always get details wrong but there will be a kernel of truth. For example "Chaos Marines will get a re-roll to wound on all shooting attacks" might be totally wrong, yet talk of chaos marines implies a codex on the way. Getting the codex means the kernel was true and you get to find other things out.
There will be a Tau codex and then +++ Nothing. +++ just makes a lot of people sad.

I was wondering about that. I get green stuff being in english as it's a product name, but what's that simple stupid thing about? Acoording to google translate, stupid and simple both have german translations.

At the serious risk of de-railing the thread, this is news to me. Has GW actually lost/given up the fight? I would have thought this would have mader bigger news if this was the case.

Nope they haven't still fighting it and anyone saying they lost, i've just citied it in my dissertation, they are currently giving evidence in the case. if anyone wants to follow it here's a useful site http://www.rfcexpress.com/lawsuits/copyright-lawsuits/illinois-northern-district-court/68828/games-workshop-limited-v-chapterhouse-studios-llc-et-al/summary/
Just to clarify this case hasnt even made it into the court rooms yet, and chapterhouse have been told to pay 10% of GW's legal fees.
Can't wait for thunderwolves if true, im not a power gamer im just thinking of the conversion options.

I have looked through every motion and found nothing on this. It seems odd that a judgement for fees rendered would precede the actual hearing.
Anyway, I am looking forward to selling my chapterhouse tervigon kit and getting some official stuff. I think 3 tervigons and 2 tyrannofexes will be purchased. I can hardly wait to figure out how to magnetize them!

I am going to be honest, I hope that the GW tervigon is nothing like the one in Chapterhouse. I am sorry, a carnifex with a few blobs on it and a slightly bigger carapace doesn't cut it for me. I thought it was really ugly.
We shall see though, I am really hoping it is a kit I can get behind, and I heard a rumour that it will also be a tyrannofex kit, a model I would love to play around with.

On the topic of Pre-orders I've noticed the front page of the GW site says "Necron Battleforce - Advance Order Now!" but when clicking on it it brings you to the Advanced Order page which doesn't appear to have been updated yet.
Also in regards to the rumored Tyranid kits, the Hive Tyrant is still missing from the store. Possibly a new kit along with the Tervigon?
Edit: Advanced Order page has been updated. Just the Necron Battleforce which is 20 Warriors, 5 Scarab Swarm Bases, 5 Immortals and a Ghost/Doomsday Ark

Some updates:
...
But the scraps I've read so far could be sumarised as: the paint range will increase, and the paints are of higher quality. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Personally, I don't see a problem. If the new paints are of good quality - and I can't complain about the recent range, so I doubt I will do so about the new one - I get new options. If some colours don't exist any longer, I'll get them from other manufacturers. For me it looks like a win-win situation.
at my store there is a shelving unit specifically for new releases where a new product will get an entire shelf to itself. these spaces he was told to make were in the actual 40k section of current releases. It's a one man store thus there isn't enough space for every product to have its own place (units are stacked behind others etc) so having a 3 wide slot of tervigons wouldn't work.
P.s
he did state "different box sets" because we were debating on wether the hive tyrant would be in one too (we severely doubt it but was trying to work out..
tervigon/tyrannofex
harpy
can't work out what the last one would be... mycetic spore possibly. IDK.
So possibly more than one Tyranid kit.

I think it might be one 'Nid Kit, some Necron bits and something else 40K related.
I had been told to expect a couple of "birthday surprises" for 25th Feb, so I am wondering if there will be a couple of kits on March 3rd which go up for pre-order on 25th Feb, and then a bigger wave release later in march?
I don't think 'Nids are getting 3 kits yet, although of course I don't really know anything for definite.
Oops: ninja'd - looks like there might be some 'Crons then. ;)

plastic fenrisian wolves 5 a box
plastic wolf lord on thunderwolf 1 a box
arjac rockfist finecast
(wanted to order it all, but not enough money;)
oh and something to do with paints, which i didn't look at
and WHFB Hellcannon in finecast

Nice if it's true, hoping for some decent wolf sculpts, but extra helpings of salt with a couple of these:
The plastic wolf lord feels unnecessary given all the options that the regular thunderwolves already have.
The Tyrant will be the first finecast model to become obsolete to my knowledge.
Happy to be proved wrong though ;)

I must admit the Tervigon and Tyrannofex being a combined kit surprised me, I thought they would look radically different, but then again the dual kits we have had recently have proved that's possible.
Plastic Hive Tyrant is really good news though, as are plastic Thunderwolves.
Apart from the fact that the lack of both models was the only thing stopping me from starting either army....

I like that they have pinched the heirophant biotitan arched back design for the tyrannofex and tervigon. I'd trim that pink frill on the birthing sac though.
The wolves have a lot less armour than I expected which makes them more useful for other armies. fenrisian wolves will see a lot of cross army use I imagine (Orcs&Gobbos, Vampire Counts, DE beasts etc.)
Flying tyrant will make a perfectly good harpy with a headswap or something or a slaanesh daemon prince

Cheaper and easier just to add the wyches to the Fenrisian wolves, that way you don't have to mess with chopping off the legs and they'll be on the right base size already. They'll also be able to straddle them without doing themselves an injury, unless you're going to have them side saddle?

Thin plastic glue is coming back?
Thank god! That thick crap has been driving me nuts with how long it takes to set, how weak the bond is, and how liable it is to create long, gossamer strings all over the place!
Not sure how I feel about TWC finally getting models...because I've had 6 Paulson Games conversions for a while now. I like the way they look, but GW models tend to look very, very good...and it looks like cavalry/bike bases won't cut it for those models, any more...
The Fenrisian wolves look pretty awesome, though...I'll happily ditch the Orks and Goblins models I've been using for those guys.
As for the 'nids...what's that winged thing? Is it a winged Tyrant or something else? I'll probably have to pick up a kit if there's an option for it without any 'guns'. Oh, how I loathe Tyranid dick-guns...I wish Tervigons could spawn Hormagaunts... :(
Lots of nice goodies, but these armies have done fine for a long time without any of this stuff, so I don't think there's a pressing need for me to get any of this - beyond the fact that some of it looks really awesome.

Well you would expect them to be no doubt. My complaint simply is that Helbrecht and Templar characters on not on par with the vanilla Space Marines characters. They have worse stats than the guys in the vanilla codex. And since the Templars are an assault army one would expect their leader to be as good, if not better than, a vanilla codex leaders. And most certainly their chapter master. Helbrecht ought to have a set of stats reflective of this I think. Especially considering how good certain other chapter's guys are. And it's all because the Templar codex needs an update. They dont even get relic blades.
