8th Edition Charge and casualties

I haven't yet played 8th Edition and my RB just arrived in the mail. I have a question about Fight Phase. When are casualties removed, after each unit fights, or after all units fight?

I think it goes like this: Say the situation is a CSM unit is already within 1 inch of a Space Marine unit and another CSM unit is 6 inches away, it is the CSM player's turn.

The CSM player charges the SM unit with the second CSM unit, rolls a 7 and makes the Charge distance. In the Fight Phase, it goes like this:

1. the unit that just charged, attacks and any SM unis that are killed are removed.
2. Then the CSM unit (the one that already was within 1 in. of the SM unit) that did not charge attacks and any SM units that are slain are removed.
3. The surviving SM models attack and any CSM units slain are removed.


Am I correct?

For what it's worth I understood the rules exact hte same way as you described.

Staying alive until you had a chance to attack is a rare exception, for instance for Tyranid models with whips
