    Default FW Open Day 2010

Sightings from the Forge World Open Day (today) apparently include Orky 'coptas, Phantom Titans* and kommandos. Source philbrad2 from Warseer.

*If true, I'm going to pop like a giant, Eldar loving pimple of joy.

    Edit: Update from philbrad2:
"ORKS - Warcopter, a twin rotor open transport, some very nice 'Warcopter crew' bits to fit Boyz making them very much like Kommando (respirators, backpacks etc...)
STOMPA - Well you've seen the bits already the Titan claw wasn't shown on photos looks a lot like the Mega Dread CCW. Plus a complete belly gun panel. Stompa plus the bits (minus Bellygun) £125 of your English beer tokens.
GROT TANKS - Yes people have been making them for years no FW gives you GW models and rules in the next IA book. Great models they are too. Fancy a lifta-dropa for your Battlewagon .... well guess what! Also new weapon arms for the Mega Dread, Zzap gun with buzzsaw CCW.

RAVENGUARD - Marine upgrade sprue to what look suspisciously like Sternguard guys. Very detailed, great shoulder pads with mini heraldic shoulderpad shields. Jump pack commander (forget his name) wielding a Thunderhammer with a Jumpack excelletnly detailed model.

Considering the size of the Phantom compared to Imperial Titans in Epic I have to wonder if its FW incarnation has been "nerfed" size wise like the Reaver has been, or is it just an obscenely large model?
He's about 2-2.5ft tall, Will Hayes is working on the main model they had a 3UP/CAD tester on show with a rather funky looking underslung CCW on one arm. Yes FW are doing more Eldar stuff, just starting on it. No firm news on what they will be doing past the Phantom. "

    Edit: *POP*

Ask not the EldarGal a question, for she will give you three answers, all of which are puns and terrifying to know. Back off man, I'm a feminist. Ia! Ia! Gloppal Snode!

Wow, that's amazing - and just a tester!

Looking forward to seeing the Warcopter too.

Talking to the head of FW, the Phantom is scheduled for release late in the year (desired not confirmed time) the model shown is not a 3up its a sketch made in hard foam to get a feel for the model, the few pieces already being worked on for the final model are much more detailed and are fantastic, I think it will fit together like a dream

The bladed weapon is going to be ruled up to be a superheavy/titan killer and will be designed to kill first, i.e. the titan wont be left standing in close combat with another titan and be ripped to shreds

The IA book after the next (on pre-order at the show today) is space marines v.s. orks (the other clans) then the next IA (10?) is Eldar v.s. ?

Its NOT a 3up, its about 1.5 to 2 times the height of the revenant - to get an idea the d-cannon type arm is about the length (slightly more) of a cobra, so it is indeed huge, the parts made so far for the real masters are the same size as the sketch model (litteraly a 3d sketch using foam then sanding and shaping the model)

From the same source came the price estimate of "just under a reaver titan" so make of that what you will, I think I may need to start saving now for one

Apparently there were some resin parts nearby with double-articulated knees and all kinds of poseable loveliness. Someone over a Warseer they were told the Phantom would be released this year, hopefull around GD UK.
The 'next' IA book is going to be Eldar vs Imperials, apparently, and following that Slaanesh and Tzeentch.

Price of the Phantom to be around that of a Reaver, so £500 or so with all th bits and pieces.

Yes, the knee was lovely work, it will allow some nice posing, if the whole model is made like that then the possibilities will be imense.

When you say next book I presume you mean after IA 9 which is the missing clans of orks (those not in IA8) vs. marines?

Chaos vs. Chaos sounds like a very interesting period in FW

Damn it being Eldar vs. Imperial, I was hoping for something like Dark Eldar as the head of FW didn't really speak about what would be in the same book but tbh I wasn't asking that question as at that point my mental processes were about how much an IA book with Eldar in was going to end up costing me

Yup, from what I read IA10 (apparently it might also be part two of 8 or 9, I'm confused) is going to tbe the Eldar volume, with IA11 featuring the chaos gods. All will be vs Imperial apparently, cos of the whole Imperium-centric thing. While this makes sense in the context of the IA series, its a little dissapointing not to have xenos only books.
I've put sixteent hundred pounds in a little box with 'Phantom Titans' on it, now to overcome my fear of resin on some super heavies.
