That's probably why Mass Effect and Dragon Age went with the characters' last names, so you could choose any first name and not have a problem. There's so many names to record, it's surprising they did as many as they did, even with all the fake ones.

Madden NFL used to have player names and team names recorded so they could say, for example, "Ismail runs in for the touchdown!" But they just stopped doing either. Not the commentary is so generic (and not always accurate, but that's a different point) that it sounds like the guys in the booth don't even know which teams are playing, much less who any of the players are, or what's going on down on the field.

Wonder how the names are handled in translated versions? Might offer insight into which names were omitted from the list.

I heard there were voiced name options, but no idea where they are as it were. I typed in my name, didn't see a list or anything. surprised by the lack of options for character creation too. enjoying it, though it is different enough to previous ones to take some getting used to even if you are a veteran, and it throws so much at you without bothering to explain anything.

I guess part of it is that they have six synonyms for breasts in there you know? Like it sends a kinda crappy message about priorities.
