But who actually looks at their paint water when dipping brushes into it? I use completely different drink containers and paint water containers and it's when I'm not paying attention and looking at them that I dip my brush in the wrong one.

(Incidentally Citadel paint + lemonade = interesting speckled effects.)

My tea mug is significantly bigger than my paint mug so it isn't a problem, though it might be geeky enough for me.

Unwanted house guest, here have the paint mug and sit opposite them with the not paint water
