    Default Of Blenders and Boulders...

    How do!

Just a quick thread for the discussion of challenge oriented characters, and the best each of us can come up with.

Do you favour a Blender, someone who will see the whole thing done and (probably knuckle) dusted in a single round, leaving them to lawnmower the remaining fools in their way? Maybe you prefer a Boulder, something big and solid for the enemy to bounce off, locking all the killnasties out of the combat, allowing your troops free reign to make with the stabby themselves? Could be somewhere in between the two.

    So come on, pipe up.

I need to get home and dig out my Ogre armylist to show off my one - Fatty Ninebellies, Ogre Tyrant of challenge fun!

How about the classic 'unkillable' Tzeentch dude?

Chaos armour, mounted (disc) and Enchanted Shield = 1+ save.
Talisman of Preservation, Mark of Tzeentch and Third Eye = 3+ ward save, re-rolling 1s.

You can put this on a Hero, but obviously a Lord is still more survivable. Or take a Daemonic Mount for T5 and W3.

Must have done my sums wrong, as the kit I was previously giving my Ogre Tyrant is 5 points over. Sorry to all my opponents!

    Anyways......

Ogre Tyrant, Heavy Armour, Sword of Anti-Heroes (+1A and +1S for each enemy character in btb contact with bearer or his unit), The Other Tricksters Shard (enemy re-rolls successful Ward Saves), Enchanted Shield (+2 to my save, and of course Parry), and Talisman of Endurance (5+ Ward).

Large part of this comes straight from his base stats. Ogre Tyrants are pretty rock! 3+ Save total, weakens enemy Ward saves (so in your example, I'd be forcing you to re-roll successful saves, and preventing you re-rolling that 1, as we'd cancel out the effects), extra Ward because it's pretty sensible, and of course if you have a character heavy unit, he's making a beeline for it. With all his Lads in tow!

Not a great deal he can't handle, as he's fairly resilient, and can dish out a lot of damage whether to characters (remember, your unit champions count. Yak yak yak!) or to rank and file.

It's a good build, I don't play Ogres myself but I know to respect and if possible avoid the fightier characters!

You don't get parry with your magic weapon unfortunately and the presence of a Champion does not give you a bonus for sword of anti-heroes as they are not a Character.

I think sword of anti-heroes is good against some of the Deathstar builds, I just prefer consistency. I rarely use very expensive characters though - I like having more blocks to shove around!

I have toyed with taking this Doombull though:

    Sword of Swift Slaying
    Ramhorn Helm
    Gnarled Hide
    Dawn Stone
    The Other Tricksters Shard

Not very good against characters but against light troops he's ASF, 1+ rerollable save and every successful save is an extra attack! He also gains an extra frenzy marker for every combat round he wins.

If he goes into most units he'll lawnmower through them. The only problem is he'll need an escort to get him there without being cannoned or magiced off which starts getting to be a LOT of points!

He's very good but as you say won't kill much. I like to throw the dice and take models off!
