Some miniatures I have made up for a Battletech tournament I am running in November.

These are miniatures from the 2nd days event. A re-running of the Classic 3039 Mission "Home Coming" from the Northwind Highlanders source book.

There are 2 sides the defenders are from the 36 Dieron Regulars, aand the 5th Sword of Light.

The attackers are from 4 different Highlander regiments. Stirling's Fusiliers, Marion Highlanders, and the 1st and 2nd Kearny.

That is just 12 of the mechs. There are 32 for that days gaming, and I plan on painting 20 Clan Omni-mechs in various Clan Jade Falcon Galaxy Colours for the First Day's Bloodname event. The cool thing is your entry fee covers the cost of the miniatures (1 for the first day, 2 for the second). The event is capped at 16 people, and you take the mechs home with you. All you bring is your entry fee (if you had not paid beforehand), and your rule book and dice.

I am not making any profit on the even at all, but I want to get people back into Classic Battletech (in my area) Sydney NSW - Australia. If you lose a match up in the Bloodname, you lose your mech. If you win, you win the loser's mech. The Grand melee winner get a Gladiator Omni-mech, and there are 3 extra mechs in case of uneven numbers from ties and byes. If you tie, you both keep your mechs, but do not go onto the next round. For those who lose out first round, I have 8 mechs in their packets, unassembled to choose from for the (upto) 8 losers of round 1 to take home with them.

It is an interesting way to run a Bloodname, and I supply 3 Laminated sheets with each Omni-mech that you can choose from. When you win a mech from an opponent, you can use it in the next round if you wish. If you win the Grand Melee and be the last one to win the Bloodname, means you take home 6 painted mechs and only pay for 1.

I will of course keep any mechs that have not been claimed as booby prizes, or because there are no byes (players who have no one to play the next round against) requiring a match-up mech. I will either use a player who has lost or tied in a previous match to go against the person, or play against them myself.

The miniatures are coming up a real treat, and the last of the Decals I ordered from Fighting Piranha should be here within the next few weeks.

I hope you all like the detail line work on the mechs. It took me a little while, and I think it makes them really stand out.

Thanks. A lot of the mechs are the new re-sculpts, some of which I prefer to have the old ones.

The camo schemes are quite easy, and batch painting them is quite fast. Dry brushing the base colour, say dark brown through to the final tan colour, add gun metal on the relevant parts, and then wash those parts with armour wash.

I then added in dabs of the relevant colours for the remaining camo colours, making sure the paint is neither too thick or too watery ( random designs, but nothing too large look good), then get a size 10 or 20"O" fine detail brush, and with something like P3 armour wash paint, (which I use) paint in the lines. The wash goes right in, and any excess not wiped off the brush before applying that goes outside the lines can be wiped off. The decals go on then, followed by a coat of varnish.

The tartan was the hardest thing to do on the mechs. I got instructions for painting Tartan on different websites including camospecs online.

I have been painting madly (batch painting). Of the 20 Clan Omni-mechs, 11 are painted up sufficiently to take photos of. They only need their bases flocked, decals applied, and clear varnish spray painted over them. There are 9 more to finish, and I think that for the amount of miniatures I have painted over 3 days (about 12- 16 hours actual painting in all), they have come up quite a treat.

Sorry about the quality of some of the photos. I am not a photographer, but you can some of the pictures have come up well, and you can see how much detail and work was put into painting them.

I went to the hall of heroes and finally got some decent photos of the minis on one of their 15mm Flames of war tables today. The Clan stuff is all still unbased and will be until I get the Decals. I then will varnish the lot of the Clan stuff.
