Can they write an exciting storyline? Oh they can? Ace. You're hired.

Though 'openly conservative' does seem to be an attempt to identify conservative leanings as something like being gay - kept in the closet, a dirty secret and that.

White men LOVE to throw hysterics about political leanings when it threatens the status quo that benefits them. But remaining silent on diversity or fighting it are themselves political actions, ones born of the privilege of not needing to do anything to see oneself represented in the media.

That guy is genuinely hilarious though. I mean:

I'm a former Army guy who believes hard work, honesty, optimism, and perseverance are a recipe for success.

Is so ****ing ironic when he's whining like a petulant baby because Muslim American G Willow Wilson has worked hard and persevered and has penned one of the best received comics in recent memory and THE BEST selling digital comic Marvel has, the first to have digital sales exceed print sales. Likewise Muslim American Sana Amanat who is now sneering at for getting a huge promotion because she worked hard and edited some of Marvels most popular books. Those women worked hard in a culture which is actively hostile to anyone who isn't a straight white man, and the yare being rewarded. Meanwhile he's writing a trashy blog. I am deeply, profoundly enjoying the hysterics of men like him.

Gail Simone is describing this as one of the best days for women in comics in years, and she's right. The reason dumb white men like this are whining so petulantly is because they see another big step towards the end of white fanboy supremacy and they fear and resent losing their unfair and undeserved preferential treatment.

in 29% of custody cases, the decision was made without any third party involvement
in 91% of cases, the decision for the mother to have custody was made without court involvement
of those who go to court, 70% of men who seek custody of their child receive it
of those 70%, 1/3 of the cases cited domestic abuse as part of the reason for divorce

i’m tired of seeing posts on feminism by both feminists and MRAs citing “gender bias in custody cases” as a problem we need to solve. women aren’t unfairly receiving custody more often. abusive men are unfairly receiving custody.

the fact is, if my dad had actually attended his court ordered anger management type classes, i would legally have been required to spend a portion of my time with him until i turned 18, even though he beat my mother and abused me.

don’t let anyone make you think that the scale isn’t still tipped toward men in a court of law.

I'm sick of seeing MRAs in particular talk about how men are unfairly disadvantaged in custody cases when as always with men the opposite is true.

Oh and going back to comics as Gott indicated Marvel has a long history of championing diversity even if they do a terrible job sometimes. X-Men were an analogy for civil rights and later LGBT and have even been used to illustrate disability and ableism. Captain America as mentioned was the Aryan ideal fighting National Socialism.

Sincere apologies to any servicemen or servicewomen, current or past who read this, but why is it that so many former servicepeople seem to think they should be in charge?

Note, this guy claims to be a former soldier - yet one cannot help but wonder 1) Well, so what? 2) Were you actually though? 3) What's the betting you actually saw live combat?

Don't get me wrong, whilst I object to many of the uses our armed forces are put to, I have respect for those who choose to serve. But how come so many come out of the armed forces and just expect to be listened to?

I have had an ex serviceman tell me, with regards gay rights 'I didn't fight for that'. well, actually, you did. sorry, but you don't actually decide what it is you are fighting for, you fight for Britain, and what it stands for. which is a move toward equality.

objectifying, raping, pillaging, and philandering on our historical past thankfully where they belong. i dont think someone could make a succesfull hero nowadays like that unless completely ironically

Always makes me laugh when EDL, UKIP etc pipe up 'our grandfathers didn't fight blah blah muslims', when, in fact, they sort of did. And indeed, fought against the sort of cretins who form EDL and UKIP.

There have been some 'heroes' that have showed pretty horrible bigotry in recent history, but it doesn't usually feel like an aspect of their personality as much as the bias of whomever is writing the character that week. Like Remender having characters going "they must be guilty, they're not like us!" in a few of his books. And didn't DC have a Merlin-esk character a few years ago that thought women should not be allowed in battle because they are weak? (It is probably very obvious that I don't follow comics, I just have a few acquaintances that talk about them.)

Also I really fail to see how a military career makes one good at leadership. Presumably if one was an officer then they have some practical experience in middle management, true! But until you are in higher ranks the armed forces are about following orders and not about knowing what orders to give. And definitely not a good grounding for politics.
