Painting anything with black cloth

Alright im having a little trouble doing the black cloth and highlighting it in shades, it always seems like the grey is to light, if anyone has suggestions on how to make my nazgul, sauron and morgul everything look awsome i would really appreciate it.

I tend to paint them black, then a bit of very-dark grey, then a bit of lighter-but-still-dark grey, then a black wash?

You can also build in some very dark browns.

Multiple black washes always works well enough for me matey.
