The Wang building?
The architect was a bit of a dick.
I hope they straighten out the mess soon
In the spirit of recalling the article showing that women found faster cyclists more attractive, may I share the speed results with you:

It is by Tea alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by white with three that thoughts acquire speed
The pot acquires stains
The pot requires warming
It is by Tea alone I set my mind in motion.
Yep, can't start the day without tea.
"Anything is possible with enough tea" - Me.
Britain's edumacation has suffered since those dirty Yanks convinced us to switch to coffee.
When we drank copious tea, we had one hell of an empire.
Just saying..... :p
Are you blaming the decline of tea drinking on the suffrage of women? If so do you have a pamphlet?
Not at all.
Wimmin's suffrage helped to increase tea consumption, as they encouraged WI meetings and that*
It's those slovenly american types with their ridiculously named coffees that ruined it all.
*probably
But the empire went into decline post suffrage...
"Interestingly", in France they opening more and more Tea Shops, and drinking tea is the new coffee.
But are they brewing it strong enough with proper tea?
Or are they using these ridiculous fancy teas?
It's France.
They're up to something.
My reasoned, balanced, and historically researched opinion is this: the British Empire can suck my dick.
World Wars cost money, yo.
Depends if you win by a big enough margin.
Sounds anatomically unlikely.
I suppose the Queen is the figurehead...
True.
Otherwise where else are the lips?
And now for something that probably won't lead to treason.
I was watching an interview with Sturgeon over the future of the sterling, the more I think we would be better off without those people.
What do you mean.....those people
YAY I GOT TO PLAY THE RACE CARD!
SNP on sterling
Quote:
A 2009 quote from Alyn Smith MEP SNP (@AlynSmithMEP) on the pound: “We are a Nordic, European country, currently part of a debt-laden subprime toxic assent currency we don't want to be part of and which is not serving our interests well.”
Also... There is Ian Blackford, a former SNP treasurer, who told delegates (At a conference in Inverness in 2009) euro membership may be necessary for Scotland to argue in Europe for reform of financial regulation.
He said: “It is inevitable we will have to join. It is in our best interest to do so. If we are independent and tied to sterling, we will pay the price in higher interest rates while being exposed to a currency that has a history of suffering from wild fluctuations.
“Let us today take a clear decision to take an independent Scotland into the euro.”
He was backed by Duncan Ross, the SNP national secretary, who argued that the referendum proviso amounted to procrastination and “the politics of moral failure”.
“I cannot understand a position that says let's be independent but sterling is the best we can do,” Mr Ross added.
Lego movie is great.
On a far lighter note, I've just got back from the cinema, I took the boy to see the Lego movie. He had a rough week at nursery so I thought he deserved a treat. It was really rather good. We both lol'ed. Lots of cameos both in voices and characters. Yeah I recommend it, especially if you have a kid to drag along.
Labour win by-election, UKIP knock Tories into third, Lib Dems lose deposit, and with a meagre 28% turnout, Mr Mystery begins to question whether we actually deserve to live in a democracy if we're just going to sit around with thumbs up bums instead of getting out and exercising our suffrage.
And Russell Brand can shut up and all. No matter how corrupt politics might be, not voting solves nothing. Back to not being at all funny for you, Mr Brand.
don't worry, once I take over britain nobody will have to bother with voting anyway
To be honest, part of me would accept a dictatorship over the current options.
At least then we couldn't blame ourselves or each other for being ruled by an absolute arse who has never experienced the life of the average Briton. Because I'm getting sick of watching people constantly vote for the privileged and connected, at the behest of whichever tawdry right wing tabloid hate rag they happen to read.
Long term benelovent dictator would be great instead of these short term popularist governements.
Almost nobody when faced between a party saying "More services and less taxation" or "Less services, more taxation, financial responsibility" would vote for the latter.
Democracy doesn't work. Unfortunately absolute power corrupts absolutely...
But really what is the point when whoever wins is still a politician...
Indeed.
Part of the issue for the UK is our divided politics. Take average wages, cost of living, and benefits.
Cost of living goes up regardless.
Left Wing ensures benefits (quite rightly) go up with cost of living, but don't really worry about increasing wages beyond the minimum wage. Introduce benefits to ensure childcare etc for those who wish to work.
Right wing ensures average wages are surpressed for the benefit of employers, whilst looking for ways to cut benefits, as well as reducing public services through privatisation, including childcare.
Not making a judgement as to which is right, as that's for the individual. But all you do get is a heavier squeeze on earnings than benefits, which leads the frankly daft situation that many on benefits would be worse off if they worked. Pulled one way, then the other.
Benevolent Dictator? At least you get consistency.
Essentially, yes.
Left wing, "universalism", so services and benefits for all, but requires higher taxation to balance the books
Right wing, "individualism", the services and benefits you have to pay for, but the individual is less taxed so have more money to pay for them.
As you say the choice is the individuals.
I would say though that if living costs go up owing to inflation, then increasing benefits/minimum wage only serves to increase inflation.
