As a huge Godzilla far (pun!) I'm pretty optimistic. Returning more to the "cataclysmic force of nature" vibe by the looks of it that the later space aliens and camp humour of the later films (though Godzilla Final Wars' [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txKUtU8ErcU"]handling of first the US failure[/URL] was pretty funny and I don't think this [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EukSN6v0Xs"]take on New York[/URL] will be quite the same)

All three a genuinely new ideas, though my boss is trying to claim the latest one with a hurd of sour grapes.
One was just pushing for better cycling stuff because I tire of putting my bike in the bin shed, the latest one is the one I am most proud of as it is a new idea that can deliver a service and can potentially generate income for the contract.

Russia will not back down over Crimea, they consider it to be Russian people and they are "defending their own". They are also already on the ground which will make them very hard to shift.
Without a response to the Syrian agression, it is clear that "the west" has no interest in sending in troops to control the area.
Remote attacks and air dominance cannot work against Russia as it's anti-air facilities are not 3rd world.
Economic sanctions may hit Russia, but take months to enact, by which time there pennisular is already annexed.
you're just more limited in which air assets you can use reliably.

Russia is flexing her muscles again, after "losing" the cold war and then having social/economic issues and the breaking up of the USSR it has been quite down trodden.
Putin won't get voted out, he is far too popular at home. Abroad that might not be the case.
At a time when European coutnries are trying to split, look at Basque Republic, the Scots, the Cornish (yes no one takes a cornish seperatist seriously), the instability of a lot of the Slavic states, it makes sense to try and increase your dominion.
More people, more soil = more wealth.
I can see down the road this will bring NATO together and refocus it. I think NATO has lost it's way and started to become irrelevant recently.
I do tire of the Wests seemingly inability to do anything but wag fingers at Russia whilst they seemingly do what ever the **** they want.
It's not just Russia either.
