I'm happy with basic - but not happy with squalor. GW put me up in one of Britain's worst hotels when I was in Stockport. Never, EVER again. Though the lift was cool. One of the manual, double foldy door ones :)
Mostly going to try the street food and that than anything else.
There were a couple on Ramsay's Hotel Nightmares that I would avoid...

Well as the 1st meal of the day it was ok. Buffet style. But at the time I was eating 7 times a day. We went just before Christmas for 10 days. It was magical.Quote:

Mystery, I don't generally like city's too much. I don't like the constant hustle and bustle. But NewYork is amazing and I love it there. The New Yorkers I met were great too.

I am a bit of a Christmas nut, so for me yeah it was brilliant. People line up just to see the shop displays and decorations. They really go all out for Christmas in NewYork. When you get your transport from the airport to the city (if it's at night) you will drive past all the houses decorated too. It's very pretty. I don't do heat very well being a bigger chap and New York I've been told does get very humid and stuffy in the summer.Quote:

Tea tends to be more like colored water in the states so you need to cover your bases there. As for traditional American food... well take some GMOs, let them decay a bit, add prodigious amounts of salt, sugar and MSG to cover the foul taste and ta-da... American cuisine at it's finest! :p

I've been told they put sugar and corn syrup into EVERYTHING there, and that even the bread is sweet and cake-ish. You'll have to report back if this is true or not!
I've found large parts of British food to be quite tasteless (as in, doesn't really taste like anything)... definitely not all of it, but much...
most striking was that every single microwave dish (and yes I know that has nothing to do with traditional cuisine! :)) I ever ate over there tasted the same: like paper... no matter what it was supposed to be... and Pizza wasn't much better...
Everything here is really sweet! It's came to the point that sugar and corn syrup are actually desirable sweeteners! Most everything has High Fructose Corn Syrup in it nowadays as government subsidies created a huge surplus of corn, which led to a bored chemist finding a way to use it. No one really cares if it is harmful to the public. Cash is king baby!Quote:
