Just found out an old gaming buddy passed away over the weekend.
Seems the silly sod slipped and fell in the shower, and broke his neck. :(

I totally agree with Kirsten, they are very helpful, the first time I went in there 4 months ago, I was looking for urban bases, it was quite so the lady in the store helped me go through ALL their storage trays full of bases to find some,.
I've since been back a second time when it was a Magic Pre-release event, and dispite it being packed and busy, the guy who served me helped me find my stuff no problems.
If I have hit the pay packet I think I may be getting Thrusday, I intend to go again this weekend, I may just buy Nagash End Times volume 1 :)

I'm sorry to hear that, accidents in the shower I belive are one of the most common causes of death in homes.
That and having a Heart Attack while sitting on the bog, we have a friend who used to be an ambulance driver, and he had to attend many such cases over the course of his carer....
Nimmby-ism

it's not like it a great bloody windmill is it?
Can't be doing with the nimby lot. Where exactly do people expect their energy to come from or people to live?
Well no.
I like the comment one person made "why do they have to put this industrial thing in the country side?"
but the sommerset levels are really good for solar farms, the land is very flat, above average sunny days (what with bodmin moor taking most of the cloud and rain from the south westerlies).
Still nuclear is the real way forward, backed up with gas turbine and hydro.
Yes, one only has to look at Germany for their brilliant solar projects (see previous) to look at how bad and ineffective solar is.
Offshore wind I think has potential, as long as it does not damage marine habbitats, infact they could be used to create artificial reefs to protect marine life, hmm that's a thought.
I think the easiest way to do offshore is use the oil/gas platforms as they become redundant as they're already there...
They're potentially hazardous to birds though.
Solar is good for supplementing power supplies and there are some nifty developments like clear solar panels that could replace window glass but you are still going to need nuclear to generate the vast amounts of cheap energy modern economies need.
just no
Yup. Not fission though, fission sucks. Fusion ftw yo.
if you can get it, but the reaction cannot be maintained due to magnetic field decay.
Pfft, they will figure it out eventually.
they are on the clock, we do not have a decade of research time left to us, hell its likely we're already to late and the end is here
Whilst I think Iter is good, and indeed is the most traditional form, there is another experiment (can't think of its name at the moment) that uses laser beams to collapse pellets of material together (through light pressure) and that I think will be more viable initially.
If we can build in solar into everyday things then it would be great, you know like roofs, windows etc. And build houses with proper insulation (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-25403897 there is another one which just uses passive heat rather than needing heating per se). Water capture for flushing / watering the garden
Yes the cost is higher than normal to begin with, but it will pay for itself in time, it isn't like a washing machine that is replaced every 5-10 years. These things can last for centuries.
I liked the solar roads concept on kickstarter, way to little funding to see it to completion, but good thinking and enough to get started

that's hardly particularly cynical.
I like that video.:)
solar energy is great. friends of ours fitted solar panels last year and now sell the excess electricity back to the electricity authority.
At the hospital with my 4 year old. Admitted last night with a bad prolonged fever. Poor bairn.
:(
Hopefully he can get some sleep soon.
Sorry to hear that mate, always a worrying time when the young ones are sick. Especially when they end up in hospital.
Fingers crossed he is over the worst of it now ;).
Thanks DL. Absolutely. He's stuck overnight again. They can't seem to get the fever under control. At least I trust the docs and the hospital. (They're affiliated with the Children's Hospital my wife works for.)
Here's hoping we all get some good sleep tonight. :)
At least you've apparently got peace of mind now Scad?
:( Don't like seeing sick kids. It's horrible.
Currently planning a booze cruise over to That France, with a side step into Belgium to pick up dead cheap tobacco. In the UK, 50g of Golden Virginia (lasts me two to three weeks) sets me back around £19 a pouch. In Belgium? Around £5. Reckon if I spent £100, that's me pretty much set for a year! Well, outside Rizla and Filters of course.
Gonna take some friends and get us some bargains, all in time for Chrimbo. Which is nice. And provided I don't kill us all driving in Foreignland.
make sure you get eu breakdown cover.
Fair point.
Also need to let my Insurer know I'm going on a day trip. Won't cost me anything, but to not do so could mean they refuse a claim. Also quite aware from my time dealing with Foreign Claims for the same Insurer that in France, the burden of proof is on the non-fault party, because those crazy Frenchies just have it that way because reasons. So whereas in the UK if someone rams into my rear (oooh, missus!) they have to prove I reversed into them, in France, I'd have to prove I didn't reverse into them.
Silly Frenchies and their lack of logics!
Remeber it is for personal use.
1kg limit - or 20 50g pouches per person.
Which is why I'm also packing a non-smoker into the car. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH!
Technically can't you bring as much as you like from within the EU?
No, http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/arriving/arrivingeu.htm
so as long as its for his personal use he could bring in 10kg if he was so inclined.
oh i know don't take the piss, but if you figured out a years supply for you and decided to go get a years supply it would be legal.
