Ah yes Gove the man who gives people two choices and people dislike both.

I was musing on this while rolling into work this morn and realised that there is a lot of complaints about Gove because he was not an educator. Then it got me thinking, people don't complain about:

Chancellor of the Exchequer not being a banker
SoS for Defence not serving in the armed forces
SoS for Work & Pensions for not being on benefits or a pensioner
SoS for Justice for not being a judge
Minister for Women & Equalities is incidentally a woman, though white and votes against equality acts
SoS for Health isn't a medic or any form of health practictioner
SoS for Transport isn't a professional driver (lorry, bus taxi etc.)
MoS for Universites and Science is neither a University lecturer nor full time scientist
SoS for Culture, Media and Sport isn't a media producer, play producer or sportsman
MoS for Disabled People isn't disabled

etc...

I think I've seen people complain about both the defence and health ones before, but certainly not on the scale of the gove one.

I can see the point and desirability of having a female minister female and an equality minister from a traditionally unequal group. But the rest is just hyperbole.

Look at Brompton, the guy who runs the company knows very little about how to make a folding bike, but knows how to organise and manage those that do and how to run an international organisation. Indeed, it is only after the founder, who could make folding bikes, hired the new head that Brompton exploded internationally.

Also after last nights game of guess the sausage, Cumberland has been replaced by Gloucester for my favourite sausage.

I thought guess the sausage was a "special party" game.

I suppose if the civil service are doing their job right it shouldn't matter who the minister is?
