Am I the only one who feels music has stagnated a bit?
I know I'm very much stuck in the past musically, but it just doesn't seem anything truly new has emerged. You've got Dubstep, but that's been around ages - Punk pioneers began dabbling in the already existing Dub scene back in the late 70's.
We all know my opinion of hip-hop and urban stuff, so will leave those there!
Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.
The wind blows to the south and turns to the north;
round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.
All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from, there they return again.
All things are wearisome, more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.
No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.
Just seems that genres which started out fresh and exciting (Heavy Metal back in the 70's and 80's, likewise Hip-Hop etc) have just become....meh. Frozen in a point of musical evolution when those interested only in money took an interest.
And it's kind of sad.
I mean, we've been through one of the worst recessions on record, one that was almost universally global. Those traditionally come hand in hand with some kind of musical innovation, as the Yoof find an outlet. This time? Nada. Nowt. Zilch.
Why did no one tell me about this: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Da-Goff-Guard

Battle-scarred and grim, only the hardest of the hard have what it takes to join the massive fighting force known as da Goff Guard. When Ghazghkull smashed down the final blast door and charged the last defences of Hades Hive, it was the Goff Guard that followed. When the Prophet of Gork and Mork cut deep into the Tyranids on Octaria, it was the black armoured might of the Goff Guard that chopped their way behind him.
This huge collection contains a combination of multi-part plastic and Citadel Finecast kits. Included are: 1 Ghazghkull Thraka (Finecast), 270 Ork Boyz, 21 Meganobz, 35 Nobz, 2 Stompas, 1 Deff Dread Mob, 9 Killa Kanz, 1 Deff Rolla Battlewagon, 4 Meks, 4 Gorkanauts, 4 Warbosses with Attack Squigs (Finecast) and 40 Gretchin.

If I had £1,600 to spare, you know I would!
When did Aldi start selling phesant and truffle pate?
When they found some what fell off the back of a lorry?
We don't have Aldi in Tunbridge Wells. Nor do we have Pound Shops*
*which is a real pain, as I broke my bog brush the other week, and refuse to pay BHS £20 for one, on account that's an obscene amount of money to spend on something used to beat jobbies into submission with.
Do, they are all branded up. Even some venison pate too.
I do like Aldi, though I hate the Aldi shopping experiance.
Homebase were wanting like £10 for one, found one in B&Q for £3.
Why pay more?
Well indeed.
We do have an Argos though, and looks like I can get one for £3, which is a far more suitable price.
Bungle's Finger beware, there's a new bog brush in town!
They also had berry plants, but with my overload of strawberries I think I had better wait
You didn't want a lawn right?
No, though they do say non-grass lawns are the way forwards http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22846419

Internet gets connected tonight so I will check it out then. Damn it no tumblr at work :@
Today I was greated with a dead rat on my patio. I am guessing it is from my neighbour's cat. I am unsure if it is a welcome to the neighbourhood or a thinly veiled warning.
so, this has to be the best kickstarter ever, definitely in terms of goal vs. funding achieved...
But as usual people jump on the band wagon.
People have that much money to give to a guy to make that yet people asking for funding for operations or money to move out of dangerous environments go without :/
Or I go without my 23" Ribble!
Nice people more likely to torture you, less nice people less likely. Politically active rebellious women even less likely to do so. Yay psychology!
Quote:
new Milgram-like experiment published this month in the Journal of Personality has taken this idea to the next step by trying to understand which kinds of people are more or less willing to obey these kinds of orders. What researchers discovered was surprising: Those who are described as "agreeable, conscientious personalities" are more likely to follow orders and deliver electric shocks that they believe can harm innocent people, while "more contrarian, less agreeable personalities" are more likely to refuse to hurt others.
The methodology and findings: For an eight-month period, the researchers interviewed the study participants to gauge their social personality, as well as their personal history and political leanings. When they matched this data to the participants' behavior during the experiment, a distinct pattern emerged: People who were normally friendly followed orders because they didn't want to upset others, while those who were described as unfriendly stuck up for themselves.
"The irony is that a personality disposition normally seen as antisocial — disagreeableness — may actually be linked to 'pro-social' behavior,'" writes Psychology Today's Kenneth Worthy. "This connection seems to arise from a willingness to sacrifice one's popularity a bit to act in a moral and just way toward other people, animals or the environment at large. Popularity, in the end, may be more a sign of social graces and perhaps a desire to fit in than any kind of moral superiority."
The study also found that people holding left-wing political views were less willing to hurt others. One particular group held steady and refused destructive orders: "women who had previously participated in rebellious political activism such as strikes or occupying a factory."
Yay! I'm allowed to put shelves up in my flat.
Storage space via Power Tools and a trip Argos, coming after 23rd!
I remember putting up shelves in my hom for the first time. I felt very manly! Unfortunately, they were the only things that were level so looked wonky :(
Had the joys of putting bathroom cupboards on plasterboard walls at the weekend. Not fun, but with the right equipment anything is possible.
I should get them straight. I know how to use a spirit level, and to measure twice, drill once!
Golf Pencils are ideal for marking your guide spots. Small and manouvreable enough to not just leave a dot, but trace the circumference of the hole.
Quite looking forward to getting my DVDs and Blurays up off the floor, and onto the walls.
Shall also ditch my non-Dr Who VHS, on account I've not watched any since I moved in three years ago!
I think he means his walls/ceiling aren't square so the level shelves look wonky.
I know his pain, my shelves are the same.
I have no where for my wall mouted shelves to go, actually I do, but I don't have enough stuff.
But I have a shed! Need to put a bench so I can do some potting :)
And yaya! The hounds are returning today!
* Does the happy dance *
Pics of the pooches discovering their new stomping ground, kthxpls!
