1000pt Guard, Helped wanted! I mean Astra......ugh Guard!

Well I have been board lately and came into a bunch of Imperial guard including 4 Leman Russ tanks so I have decided to go for an armor based list with foot troop support, Problem is I haven't played 40k in 2 Editions so any and all help on what to do would be great! I came up with these two lists and personally the second one seems more solid but I am so rusty There is no way to be sure. Any and all help would be great!
