It does look about as elite as it gets. I'd be very surprised if there were any cheap options in there.

I'm guessing basic points to possibly exceed Sternguard Veterans?
luchiban over on dakka is posting some details and vets appear to be the exact same points as Sternguard. Loads of option though.
yeah you can't really charge any more than sternguard in an army that has no access to cheaper troops. I know from using my Grey Knights that all the offensive weapons and abilities in the world don't help when you are taking damage. every model having a force weapon sounds awesome, but they still die just as easily as a tactical marine massively cheaper. Deathwatch will be the same, they kill a lot of stuff, but need to be careful taking damage back.
Indeed. Nobody finds it fun when their elite army gets ganked by a horde of gretchin.
Now, where are the damn pics of the new Eldrad? That tiny little teaser pic of the box contents has only got me more excited!
Shame more gamers don't appreciate that high points don't necessarily save you from a proper ganking off a deluge of ****ty troops!
An Imperial flyer that isn't a brick with engines strapped to it? Combi heavy weapons? All models individually armed? I've been a Deathwatch fan for years but damn this has me more excited for a new 40K release than I've been in years. It looks like it's going to make my credit card sad but me happy, so it balances out.
Only thing that would make me happier would be them releasing improved rules for Inquisitors to go along with this. Well, GW admitting Leman Russ tanks can fire their Battle Cannons and all their other guns at full BS would be the very best but I've given up hope for that.

The Chapter will usually only second those battle brothers that can be trusted to have enough self control to control themselves or to request a return to the Chapter if they find themselves straying.
The Deathwatch RPG does have rules for what to do if it does happen though. In general it's not pretty.

Eldrad Ulthran, the most skilled of the Eldar’s prophets and one of the most powerful psykers in the galaxy, whose existence has spanned ten millennia, has put into motion a series of incredible events. Descending upon the planet of Port Demesnus, his intention is to seize its crystal moon, Coheria, for a forbidden ritual capable of awakening a slumbering god…
Watch Captain Artemis – born into violence, recruited into the Mortifactors, his talents in the art of detecting and slaying the merest hint of xenos taint saw him plucked from his Chapter and sworn to lead Kill Teams of the Deathwatch. The first to respond to the distress signals from Port Demesnus, and the first to realise Eldrad Ulthran’s motives, he has diverted his strike force to Coheria.
The battle for this moon, and the events that transpire, will send shocking reverberations throughout the galaxy.
