I always worry with alpha testing and beta testing that some games never become "finished" they just exist in a limbo of iterations.

yeah saw that... too bad none of my friends are especially interested in it for some reason, and that's basically required for Payday...
Urhg multiplayer.
Looking at Banished it is $19.99 which is £12.11, but no, being sold in the UK for £14.99 what is with that 25% increase? Grumble Grumble Grumble
Tempted to buy Payday 2, they say they are going to release a female PC but they have been saying that for like a year...
Which reminds me, i GTAV ever does that with DLC or something please let me know.
a better replacement for simcity than the modern iteration?
Well it's medieval so if you like modern cities, no.:) It's the work of one man so it's not on the same scale. I wish it had a demo actually, I love it but I know it won't be to everyones taste.
But I steam
I'll probably wait for either a demo or a sale on Banished... its both my kind of game and my kind of setting, but I'll restrain myself (maybe...)
It comes with a steam key, and a drm free download from the developer...
Oh reily?
according to the website
Now this looks like it could be very fun:

Explore planets, kill things and build colonies and stuff? Oh my.
With a female protagonist! almost forgot that.
Well you can have one of them as well by the looks of it. Shoudl have left it out for realism purposes though, everyone knows men are rubbish at planetary exploration. Tripping over their penis and always trying to fornicate with the flora. Floral sex.
From the Steam page:
Quote:
In single player there are 3 distinct selections
Story Mode – Story mode is the main meat and bones of the game, it is the action-adventure-rpg-somewhat-4X segment, offering npcs, missions, colony building, farming, ranching, training, diplomacy, and of course, a storyline that you can follow or ignore. This story features a 17X8km world map with many unique character, landscapes, biomes, locations, and over 100 types of potential enemies. Even though we’ve made it seem like a very action oriented game in the trailers, in reality, players can choose to not fight so much as to just plant a farm, make some food, keep the colonists alive, negotiate with the sentient aliens, and defend the perimeter from the local life forms. That can still eventually arrive at the ending. And yes, there is an ending.
Adventure Mode – This mode is based on a procedural map generated from a seed. Currently, it comes in a 40X40 kilometer map. Players will be able to complete random missions, defeat bosses, and explore different landscapes in the mode and eventually be able to setup conditions that they want to play (such as tower defense or attack an alien camp). This mode will also feature survival gameplay. The randomization in this mode will eventually pull in player made objects and locations so that a world will always feature something new and unique.
Build Mode – In this mode, there are no enemies and an infinite amount of building material. It also currently comes in a 40X40km map. Players will be able to build whatever they want in this mode, including everything in the Creations Editor. Think of this as the perfect testing ground to test everything you build. Or…it’s your place to build your garden without ever worrying about the pesky aliens.
Multiplayer allows Local Area Network and player hosted servers. It features several modes but some are still on the drawing board or going through technical trials so the final result is still in flux. Players playing multiplayer should be able to bring at least one of their created objects into multiplayer games, be it a sword, gun, or vehicle.
Coop – Coop comes in many selections, such as adventure mode, tower defense mode, build mode, etc. This is pretty much an open world sandbox with a max of 32 players (this number still needs to be stress tested).
Versus – This mode allows teams of up to 16 players to battle against 16 players from another team. We allow full terrain manipulation in this mode. Currently, it's a point based system where one team wins if they reach a certain point level based on kills, built objects, resources mined, etc.
after some unexpected money today, I bought a WiiU, which I was planning to get soon anyway using my hefty staff discount. but it is having a disk read error and we have no more in store so I have to wait a week while a replacement is ordered :'(
I doubt it, and you're seriously limiting yourself if you just play games with female protagonists.Quote:

Yeah but I'm so over being forced to play as men. There are some exceptions I'm willing to make (Batman, Hitman and Thief if they ever get the old VA back).
You're hardly forced. Does someone have you at gunpoint demanding you to play it?
Of course I'm forced. If 90% of AAA games don't let me play as a female my choices are be forced to play as a male or not play them at all.
You must not play many games...
Not as many as I used to. Not going to support an industry that treats 47% of it's demographic like we are worthless.
Ah, the cheerful sound of male privilege at its finest... :rolleyes:Quote:

My favourite thing related to stuff like this in gaming that I discovered recently was the ratio of male to female police officers in 'LA Noire'. Almost the entire department is male, with the justification of 'REALISM! THERE WAS MORE SEXISM IN THE PAST!', until someone pointed out that the LA police force of the time was 37% female, what with WW2 making many otherwise eligible men into corpses, and thus unavailable for hire.
Because a lot of the time, reality is unrealistic... :)
Which is why Magic the Gathering is ace, it has males, females, things with no gender. It's just aimed at everyone.Quote:

Yup, that is another problem with realism, it usually isn't and the people talking about usually can't tell. People will accept costumes and equipment that are pure Hollywood pop culture historical gear without even blinking or all manner of concessions to the medium (that whole game balance thing) and yet you try and make it more inclusive and it erupts into nerdrage.
I notice AC Unity seems to have another male protagonist. In a game where the gender of the protagonist makes no difference whatsoever, it's pretty shocking that there has only been one female protagonist in what will be eight games.
Figures. AC is also on my exceptions list but it is still really disappointing, there was a lot of anticipation that they would give us another female protagonist based on the success of Liberation and a few progressive statements from people within Ubisoft.
It's okay; I'm not judging you. You have to remember, the key problem of privilege is being unaware that you are privileged. We assume that our experience is a universal one; that no-one else experiences it differently, and thus any of us may experience an uncomfortable cognitive dissonance when someone points out 'Your experience is different to mine'.Quote:

The key is to try to avoid words to the effect of 'Well, I don't see the problem.' This is because the unstated implication of 'I don't see the problem' is 'so there isn't one'.
Of course, if you don't see it, that doesn't mean it's not there. It might mean that. But it might also mean your sight is defective.
Check the available facts first and find out which one it is.
I work at a f'ing Wetherspoons scraping the bottom of the barrel for minimum wage, which basically means they'd pay me less if they could. How am I privileged?
If anything, you're the privileged one.
God?Quote:

Use Fighting, Bug, or Fairy.
So Mach Punch would be good as it is priority.
Fairy? That dazzling gleam/sylveon didn't do much...
Mach punch you say?
Is there a 60 power fighting TM that I can teach Scyther? cause thats a fighting/bug type isn't it? (got one with technician)
Bug/Flying
So Fury Cutter would work well with Technician, but X Scissor might just be decent to use, you still get STAB, and 2x power.

Struggle Bug is also good, but it's a Special Attack.

As is Silver Wind. :)
