Makes as much sense as any other...
Well I picked up Earth Defense Force 2025 yesterday. last few weeks I have played a huge amount of the previous game and loved it. This new one is a lot more Japanese than the previous entry in terms of things like character design, title screen, plot, drama etc. It has done away with the humour from the last game as well which is a real shame. It has real frame rate issues when explosions get big (which is nearly all the time) which is quite a surprise for a game that isn't pushing any graphical boundaries. It really needs a patch to fix some of the class issues. the big power armoured Fencer is far too slow and can leave you stranded far from the action. The Air Raider support class is pretty much useless. He has no access to basic weaponry, only explosive mine launchers which are no use for defending yourself. the artillery strike you can call in is so huge that you need to throw the marker a massive distance and it becomes incredibly hard to aim. and he can also call in a vehicle drop, but the vehicle controls are horrendous and they are pretty much unusable. most of the gameplay is still a lot of fun and I do recommend it for split screen co-op, but I might well be going back to the simpler, more fun previous game.
I cannot stress how much fun Titanfall is. Played every day in the beta and its just incredible fun.
If you have a XBox One, a 360 or a PC i highly recommend picking it up
Top Gear has used The End, Once and For All from Mass Effect 3 in tonight's episode :D
its a bit older, but does anyone play alien swarm on steam?
The coach built alfa?
I'd assumed you were going to say Hammond's bit with the six wheeled merc...
the alfa yeah
I would rather have the 6 wheeled g-wagon, looked great fun. Glad you recognised the music though it was bugging me muchly.
It did indeed. Especially the attempts to run over swimmers.

Turns out the new Thief is decent but nothing special (Metacritic score of 70/100 for the PS4 version). That's a real shame as I was really looking forward to it as my first retail PS4 game since Christmas to tide me over until Infamous: Second Son. I think I might still pick it up though when I get paid next week, as I'll be trying to play it like pure Thief with most of the hardcore settings turned on. I wonder if playing on a higher difficulty, turning off Focus and putting a few hardcore settings on for their first runs may have changed reviewers' opinions of the game?
I'll mull it over for a week, as I still don't have Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition either, and I know that is a class game.
yeah I am slightly disappointed to see the review, but it isn't a massive surprise. I am going to wait for Infamous first and wait for Thief to be on special offer
Yeah that's what I am thinking as well, after all, I haven't played a good stealth game since Dishonored!
I haven't played a good stealth game since the original Deus ex
Tropico 5 beta testing open now!
They're still making those?
apparently
Genuinely surprised.
It is always a game that I think, hmm, I would like to try that, but not enough to part with money....
I got a couple of the early ones once they went white label, they're really slow.
Dishonored was a good game, though not really a true stealth game I feel. Still, it's the closest thing I've played to one in ages. The last stealth game I played from beginning to end was the original Thief: The Dark Project: Gold Edition. What's funny is that I played that game as a 5 year old mostly!
Not played it, not saying it isn't good, just haven't played that one.
maybe when its a fiver on steam.
Skipping Thief 'cos of the whole 'no woman, no purchase' thing I have going now but my best friend who has been playing Thief as long as I have was incredibly disappointed in it. Something about it being a 'disjointed, incoherent turd'.
Tropico 4 was fun.
I recommend trying it out, I don't know what it costs at the moment but it is a pretty darn high quality game. If you fail at stealth then the game will actively punish you for it in later stages, which I thought was cool.
That's sad to hear. I'm guessing the end part with (not a spoiler because it happens in every Thief game) Daemons/Undead turns into an action game, which I think was what the reviews said. Kind of sad as even in the original Thief you could stealth through the last missions, albeit with great difficulty.

http://www.realclearworld.com/blog/angrygandhi.jpgQuote:
Gandhi has been historically the most aggressive character in Civilization due to an original bug in the first game that caused him to go all-out once he reaches democracy. They just kept the thing going ever since.
Quote:
To further explain this bug, because I was chatting with mothmonarch about Civilization and other strategy games last night and I never got around to explaining this fully, but I love this story:
Gandhi’s AI in the original game had its aggression set to the absolute minimum (0 on a scale of 0 to 10, I believe, I may have this wrong but the basic idea I’m about to explain is accurate, as far as I can tell). Adopting democracy lowers an AI civ’s aggression by 2 points, so when someone who is fully peaceful loses two points of aggression, they should still be nice and polite, right?
Except this is an old DOS game, and so computer math is in place. What actually happened was that Gandhi’s aggression level ticked backwards two steps, from 0 to 255. On a scale of 0 to 10, Gandhi is now 255 points of pure nuclear rage.
And that’s the story as I recall it, but again I may have gotten some details wrong, so feel free to correct me! After that, as the original poster said, the devs loved the bug so much that they just kept it in as a running joke!
That sounds like a reasonable explanation for why what should be a peaceful leader needed wiping out as soon as you met him every game.
awesome
Stop press!
