I first played 40K around 2000 and played for a bit of 3rd Ed. I liked it a lot more than WFB. Skipped 4th and 5th Ed because I got tired of dealing with the meta and spammy lists. Got back into the game with 6th Ed. I really enjoy lightly competative lists and get disgusted at players who bring 3 of "THE BEST UNIT" and jump around armies to get the current BEST CODEX. I really get angry because those are the clowns who win at tournaments and thus get more FREE STUFF which encourages this kind of behavior. I prefer the games to be mildly competitive and largely decided by the maneuver and tactics on the board. I would enjoy a game where the armies were essentially the same and all that changed was the dice and the maneuver.
Otherwise, I enjoy science fiction and fantasy and have since 1982 or so. Oddly, I'm not a comic book junky. I'm better at collecting than painting. I really enjoy assembling the miniatures, but I am picky enough that I want to have them pained before I do so. I also am allergic to super glue so any time I assemble models I spend the next two or three days sneezing my head off.
I play White Templar Space Marines, Disciples of Caliban Dark angel Space Marines, and the Kabal of the Malevolent Storm Dark Eldar. I have some Blood Angels too, but only really in ally strength. I'm currently divesting myself of Tau and considering picking up some Craft World Eldar to ally with my Dark Eldar. I have High Elves, Beastmen, and Vampire Counts too, but haven't touched them since around the turn of the last millennium.
