Flamers and the Aeldari Stratagem "Pathfinders"

If the Aeldari Rangers choose to use the stratagem "Pathfinders" it says that "...Attacks that target that unit in this phase will only hit on rolls of a 6, irrespective of any modifiers..." Do Flamers then need a 6 to hit? When it says " This weapon (a Flamer) automatically hits its target." I put it to you that this is a "modifier" and the Stratagem takes precedence and the Flamer has to hit on a 6. Which is the correct interpretation?
