Is there a way to give landraiders the ability to outflank or flank march during an apocalypse game? I am playing in one next week against imperial gaurd and daemons. my ally is playing tyranids and we have decided to put genestealers in landraiders and are looking for a way to get them in behind the enemy.

Or, just use the Flank March stratagem. You will also need a fluffy reason for there being Genestealters in a Land Raider. Otherwise, it will be seen as the power-gamey move it probably is.

well, it's apoc.... so fluff n' stuff goes out the window
but without even straining, how about he just says genestealer cultists/nids took down a marine company etc, and took their stuff?
...done :)

thats poor - in apocalypse you may use allies or allied armys (have you looked at the ally-tabel in the apo-book) but should not use each others transport vehicle.

But then again, it's Apoc after all... so make up a rule if you want to be able to do it, but make sure you have all player's consent.

It reminds me on the story where an Inquisitor sent a genestealer to an ork world to make the nids fight the orks. Just imagine the marines were able to catch some stealers living, put them in a land raider and let them drive into the enemy. And after that the rest of the nids follows to eat the enemy up.

Use Khan.
All dedicated transports gain 'outflank' in exchange for combat tactics. A terminator squad can purchase a land raider as a dedicated transport.

But dedicated transports can only start the game with the unit they belong to. So he wouldn't be able to outflank them with stealers on board.

Why not? They can do whatever they want.

IG Vox Operator:Sir, there appear to be several Land Raiders approaching our flank. They appear to be unloading-what?-genestealers?

This is a fine example of how people play apocalypse wrong. Shining example. On a hill.

Agreed. Apocalypse isn't supposed to be about making the most powerful force and trouncing the enemy. It is intended as a freindly, story-driven game. This is why a valid fluff reason for alliances and custom-made units/formations is a must. Personally, if someone wanted to have some Genestealers caged in a Land Raider, that is fine, but how about some rolls to see if they shred the crew and the interior of the Land Raider? Maybe roll at teh beginning of each SM/Tyranid turn on a 3+ they do and the Land Raider is immediately Destroyed-Wrecked, with this happening before Reserves rolls?

We have come to the conclusion that Flank March is a bit broken and we do not allow it, unless you get it with a formation, and then only that formation can use it.
In fact all 3 game groups I play Apoc with agree on this.

My group refuses to acknowledge how broken Flank March is; even while saying that the Disruptor beacon should be disallowed for games with Deamons.
I'd be fine it only worked for the reserves coming in for a single turn instead of the entire game. You could still hold all your reserves till turn 3 so they could all Flank, but the more you want to come in from Flank March is the less you have to keep from being routed in the first 2 turns.

I agree. Apocalypse is about big, grand cinematic games. Huge armies and lots of death. The people who try and build the uber-list don't get it. The longer I have played, the less super heavies I have used. I like big 40K with stuff like flyers added in. Lots of Titans and such is cool, but can unbalance a game. We find it coolest when each side has the same # of super heavies and titans.

The last time I played apoc, in 5000 points that I brought, I only had one super heavey--- a Knight Titan, and that was in attempt to make sure our side had some super heavies. The rest of what I had were formations and just fun stuff. I used Space Marines for everything else, and I was specifically designing my force as a 'Strike' force--- I figure space marines would not be fighting the long gun war, but would be right in the thick of it, so everything but the Titan was deep striking.
its fun to play with lots of Terminators!

bwahahahha!
He's got a point--- sometimes it is just fun to bring whatever models you have, even if it isn't a 'fluffy army'.
However, I do think it is a whee bit cheesy to bring combos with the explicit intent to thrash your opponent--- apoc is usually a lot more fun if ya just go in with the intent to have every one of your models die!
The best is when there's like 2 models left on the board in the end! Then you know it was a good game!

Forgive me, for I truly am a dedicated hobby enthusiast and after all, the most important thing is to have fun, but the idea of putting genestealers in land raiders is utter rusbbish. This really is just a crap move. Apocalypse or not, it's a joke. Why not play battlescape?
One of the most appealing traits of the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k universe is the endless fluff and background developed over decades of work. It is a very influential part of the hobby and should not be so readily dismissed.

Well, we actually like fluff in our Apoc games. And in the SoCal Apoc Club that we run at the LA Battle Bunker, we don't allow you to mix and match transports like that.
How the game plays and does it make sense actually is important to our games. We don't want it to be a free for all.
Just the way we do things. Your results may vary. :-)
