What do you all think.
Its a good start and hopefully the movie will be a bit more polished.
NICE...Okay I seem to be having more and more faith in this project, the animation is looking a lot better and I am glad that not only is there blood but that the helmet models where worked out because if you look back at some of the concept art some of the helmets where messed up..2010? games day release maybe? or is this gona be gws big Christmas release for this year? only time will tell..

hmmm...i'm not to sure. I was keen when i heard Abnett and the cast for it...but the animation looks pretty below par considering what can be done these days...
what you thinks gona happen story wise? I am curious to hear what people thinks gona happen..

I was excited, but the more I see the less I want to see.
I'm still gonna watch it, and I'll probably be excited but I fear they will just frack it up. Those old man Space marines are ridiculous. Bad decision producers.
The fact that the marine seems to get shot through the heart ( one of ) makes me think the bad guys aren't the Tyranids. But trailers always show you lots of bits from the beginning of the movie so this could be an intro bit against Chaos or Orks rather than the main story.

I agree with the animation seeming sub-par compared to things like the Dawn of War cinematics, the trailers for Star Wars: The Old Republic, and other things that have been released in the last few years.

Until I know otherwise, I think I will assume this isnt "finished" animation - because if it is - I can only agree it is not very high-quality. Still, the voice-cast are very good and the story might be good - so that stuff may make up for what might be IMO poor CG...

that CG looked like it was on the same level as starcraft 1's CG and that was 12 years ago.

What would be nice is if the animators who did THQ's intro Dawn of War 2 got on the project

I think they should talk to the guys behind 'Space Marine' the game. I've just watched their little trailer and the marines look much better than the movie guys and not decrepit. Unless the marines are meant to be hit with a nurgle based disease, they look ridiculous.

the old face (being that we only saw one) would work fairly well for an ancient captain or a librarian, age withered from exposure to the power of the warp. If they all look like that though, they would be far too weak.
I really doubt that is final production CG. The lighting doesnt look at all right, most of the ultramarins have black eyes rather than the red lenses they are supposed to have. I kinda wish they'd actually try to keep it a bit more secretive until they have it a bit more done as this really isnt that impressive at all

Yeah, definitely agreed on that, not very polished looking. The faces look good (from what I can see in the one line from the older-looking marine there). But otherwise...the CGI graphics look about on par with 1999's Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, so yeah, let's hope it gets a bit more polished.

We have seen more than one old face. The old guy in the new trailer is different to the old guy in the original teaser trailer.

Unless these Marines are apart of the 1st company then that could explain why they all look older

Everyone here comparing the CG of the movie to games from a decade ago really need to remove their rose-tinted glasses and watch those old CG cuts from those games.
I personally do not like the idea that this is a Space Marine movie, but I might watch it if the CG is polished up a bit. It seems pretty good so far.

This is what I'm comparing it to. In my opinion these short films set the standard for CGI animation.

The story line is what gets me concerned if you are going to do it around the ultramarines then it has to be the nids. If they wanted to do chaos then the dark angels story would be good. The Dawn of War graphics were better. but all and all I still can't wait to see it.. The Horus Heresy still would have been a better over all choice for their 1st movie.

"Ultramarines" and "Space Marine" really got me excited about Ultramarines! I know a lot of you are used to better animation, and it's only right to want the very best for a movie about our fave game. For me the novelty of seeing GW designs walking and talking, fighting, dying...makes up for the short comings of the animation.
I love the hype they are giving the Space Marines! I know that it's not so Grim Darkness-ish, but I like to cheer for heroes in movies:) When I first read the Ultramarine codex awhile back, I was impressed by the 'goodness' of the chapter. Finally someone to look up to in the Galaxy!
"...and the greatest of these are the ULTRAMARINES"!
Even if it isn't true or you don't agree, isn't it kind of fun to get excited about?
My only complaint about the latest trailer was them ending with the Marines getting killed. That's an odd way to end a trailer about Marines... I guess they wanted an action shot and didn't want to show us the mystery guest villains being shot...

You can't forget the Dragon Age trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iFrHRaH0Os
I'm really disappointed. Sure, it's not quite as bad as the original Starcraft, but the cinematic quality is seriously sub-par. I'm surprised that Games Workshop is allowing this to happen considering how they were so adamant about "We're only letting these guys do it because we have high-standards." Sounds like some of my friends talking about their ugly girlfriends.

How could I forget? Or the trailer for the sequel now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xx0pU-B_yA
And I agree. If this movie ends up looking like the trailer...they should keep doing 40k movies, just get another studio.
I wonder if GW people actually read boards and get feedback.

I will watch this movie as I guess we all will, but the part where it says the Ultra marines are the finest (or whatever) of the space marines didnt go down well with me. Also I hear what you guys are saying about the old guys and well to me the heads all seem to me to not have that gene bulked look. The faces just look like regular fellas in space marine armour. My other hobby / sport involves a lot of big guys and due to some chemical enhancements / steroids that people in the sport dont really talk about you see a lot of testosterone full faces. I just thought you would see the same in these guys. you know necks thicker than heads, big traps and strong jawlines. These guys look like they should be in the post office queue getting their pension.
