So here's a photo of some of the studio's finished work, trying to put a new one up each day.
Today's update, 10/08 Custom Grey Knight Justicar.
Most of these are personal projects, not commission minis, used to help work out non standard colours, painting specific areas, techniques or other reasons. If you're interested in how we achieved something on a particular mini, feel free to ask!

You'll find the name of the mini, reasoning behind it, and any additional commentary on the mini below each picture.

Imperial Guard Commissar (single piece pose variant)
Reasoning behind: I was trying to achieve a non standard commissar cloak colour on this miniature, and decided upon the green with gold trim. Decided in the end to put him on a simple asphalt base. While he looks shiny in the pictures, he's been matte varnished several times, and doesn't appear to have a shine, and a flash wasn't used. Most common comment on this one when people look at it closely is that the eyes creep them out, once they realize they're done completely (with pupils) and you can just see them poking out from under the hat.

Plastic version of Space Wolf Special Character Lukas the Trickster
Reasoning behind: Kit bashing the wolf guard box, to start with, as well as the fact that the metal model is weighty, expensive, and shatters into several pieces when dropped. This one? It bounces. The colour of the armour was easy to achieve, and the cloak was a lot of fun to paint. I tried to come very close to the metal version of the mini.
Techniques: Working on painting the hair, and getting the triple grey tone on the fur.

Forgefather Vulkan He'stan.
Reasoning behind? Originally a miniature I was commissioned to do, with that specific colour scheme. Customer no longer plays 40k, so I was able to reacquire the model.
Techniques: Not getting frustrated (yes I do consider that an actual technique) working on the tiny cloak scales. Also, working out the flames with the colours asked so they looked appropriate. Thank you to whomever invented slow dry! The white was the easiest part, and the bit of sculpting to readjust the left arm was quick.

Warmachine miniature, Khadoran War Dog.
Reasoning behind? Testing out combinations of washes over white primer. Also wanted to work with P3 Armour Wash.
Techniques: Layering washes. With this model I layered 4 coats of GW Washes. The most important part of this one was to make sure each coat was totally dry before moving on, which seemed to take forever.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't realize it'd been that long since I'd put pictures of finished minis up with everything that had been going on.

Warhammer 40k Miniature, Grey Knight Justicar, converted.
Reasoning Behind it? I wanted a unique justicar model to represent the one I always equipped with Icon of the Just (4+ Invulnerable Save) that's been through hell and lived to tell the tale in my Grey Knight force. Also wanted to work on building another halberd.
Techniques used? Scratchbuilding, working with epoxy to create thin, realistic purity seals, and pinning with very fine materials to accomplish what you see. The entire right hand weapon has been made by myself, and his left arm and shield are stock GW parts. Note the "storm bolter" built into the halberd.
