Cool, pics Johnny. Is there anything you wished they would have done? Or not done?

How thin would you need to be to get into that? I think i would need an xv8 suit to fit my frame!

Certainly looks like one, if only for the apparently rushed paint job. I would imagine that it would have a clear canopy if it was a GW model.

It might be just a prototype. But, seeing the fact that it is almost entirely comprised of Valk parts, I'd think it was a conversion, and a good one at that.

Sure. It's a bit red for my liking, and even though I'm assuming it's supposed to be a Stormraven, it's not really what I had in mind :V.

Each to their own though. I'll wait for the kit that GW have promised is coming soon™.

sorry for the delay in answers, almost back to the city now, bus drive and 2 hours of diablo to kill time with my friends...i would have taken more pics but my phone died the first 2 hours from all my pics...silly 3G iphone...anyway to the answers....

That eldar display was SICK, Fuzz! I was trying to figure the materials it was crafted from...even the display board detail was amazing. No the Ultramarine movie was in the far back corner, and they did a great job not showing you anything useful on the trailer. The concept art was beautiful though.

Yeah. some clarity on the event order would have been nice, but then it started at 10 and i didn't get there till 12, needed some grub. Otherwise all in all it was a blast for $25. I won a Valk kit and my friend got a Wave Serpent while we played Carnival of Chaos games all themed to a different chaos god.

There were remote controlled super heavy tanks you could drive around a huge cardboard city - a club table. And there were Rock 'em Sock 'em Stompa's another club table that won best table, and rightly so...it was awesome.

overall the event was a great time, my biggest gripe is that most of the display case covers for all the Armies on Parade, Conversion Contests, and Golden Deamon pieces were scratched to hell and it made it very difficult to get a full appreciation of the work, much less pictures...

Some of the Golden demon were really great. The painters were around to talk to. THe authors of most books were signing autographs, They had big games for all 3 systems, speed painting contest, conversion building contest (onsite model conversion and bring your own), a group paint city fight board that they raffled off 2x2 squares of after, a build terrain and take home that my friend and i took part in, banner contests, and coloring contests. loudest waaaagh!, and other stuff. lots of fun.

Guy in Fire Warrior costume...oh dear.

That actually was a mannequin. no real body under there, unless they can stand really still and like having a "do not touch" sign at their feet....:D

Yeah total conversion, it was one of the conversion contest entries...there was a sick Hovercraft super heavy, a pirate ship ork beast that was from a local guy here in NYC, and some other goodies.

so overall it was a great experience and i recommend it next year, as they condensed to only one annual one nationally, its only going to keep getting bigger. everyone i talked to that had been in teh past said that it was much cooler this year. so i guess it was a good year to go. Feel free to ask anything about the pics if they pique you interest..

forgeworld was great, got some shipping free taurs' and RG LR doors. The displays were great. lots of badab stuff...

The Fire Warrior costume was done by a friend of mine's club and it was last year's Costume Contest winner, so this year they displayed it without wearing it. A photo of the guy wearing it from last year was in the program booklet for this Games Day. Two years ago my son won the contest dressed as a Revenant Titan. There were some equally good costumes this year, especially one particular Sisters of Battle costume with full regalia, authentic looking backpack and light-up helmet.

my biggest gripe is that most of the display case covers for all the Armies on Parade, Conversion Contests, and Golden Deamon pieces were scratched to hell and it made it very difficult to get a full appreciation of the work, much less pictures... When I set up my Armies On Parade display right at 10 AM the plexiglass in front of my Spears Of Ares army (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-13937-5808_Spears%20Of%20Ares%20Space%20Marines.html) was so bad I asked if I could change it with another unscratched one that was not being used at the time. Thankfully the guy handling it at the time did that for me. I wasn't expecting to win, but I at least wanted to get a good showing for my army, which thankfully I did. As it filled up some others were not so lucky as the plexiglass was horrible in spots as you said.

Unfortunately my camera developed a problem during the show with the memory card and I wasn't able to get pictures of the costume or banner contests as I had wanted. There certainly were a lot of people taking pictures so hopefully some will make it to the Internet. The SoB costume was so good people were asking to have their picture taken standing next to her.

I wasn't around for the Costume Contest, and the batteries in my camera went dead after taking nearly 200 pictures.

I heard the Sister of Battle's Chainsword even spun! -But then again I heard that the North American GamesDay 2011 will be held in Chicago.

Anyone know for sure?

You know one thing i was disappointed in was that except for the exclusion of shipping costs from FW even if what you wanted wasn't in stock, the ginormous store gave no discounts until the last half hour, they put ork stompas up for half price. for all of 10 minutes....as a buisness owner, that's the time you want discounts, they killed anyway, but they could have doubled their income if they had offered at least 10% off...i mean come on it's a big event...i didn't buy anything bc of that. why lug it back from MD if i can buy it at my local spot...but that's not that big of a deal i guess, i just didn't understand the reasoning behind it...

Look up the word Greed in a dictionary and you will find the text : Greed = Games Workshops Business practises...

So they had a sale at the last minute? I guess I wont go to the FW store until the last 30min then to see if there is anything there Id like.

I'd hit that.

Really though, that is the second best Sororitas costume I've ever seen, out of Lots. All of them look a little too plasticy/costumey for my taste, but then when I worked out how much it was going to cost to make a Sororitas costume to my standards it came in at around six thousand pounds.
