What is this 'luck' you speak of?

All of them, I just feel a strange affection towards all my units but I guess my ultramarines especially(surprise surprise)

Worst experience was when my chaos lord charged a tac squad in cover, my lord had termie armour so was at I1 but I wasn't really worried as the tac squad didn't have a power fist or power weapon. The tac squad's attacks managed to cause one wound, my lord rolls for khorne daemon weapon attacks, gets a 1, fails the invunrable and then has to take a fearless save for losing combat. Roll a one. Lord dead. Oh well that's the price you pay for the carnage that the daemon weapon usually causes.

I love my Sternguard. Just one of those units that do well every game, great looking models and i did a good job of painting them (by my standards at least) They are about to become a 10 man unit with 10 more added with the new mk's forgeworld armour.

-Lucky game? Killing 2 Trygon Primes with a single Vendetta.
-Best Unit? My 1st Veteran squad. I nicknamed them the Rednecks. Shotguns, Flamer, bandannas, and random gear (read: Thermite grenades as meltas!)
- Worst experience? 4rth ed Flyrant rolling over two IG squads, a Chimera and some Heavy Weapons troops.

Best Unit- "Starka" my Leman Russ Demolisher with 2 plasma cannons and Las Cannon. She can blast marines off of Chimeras all day and never misses. New whipper snapper plastic demolisher has a lot to learn still:mad:
Worst Unit-Lovingly converted Leman Russ Eradicator (finished about a month b4 the new kit came out:rolleyes:) that went to a GT with me and killed NOTHING! 5 rounds and literally zero kills... A black weekend for the Vosy's (went 0-5!) It looks nice on the shelf now...

Me and 2 others were playing a 40k Zombie Apocalypse game last friday, we had some rules we downloaded from the net and some we made up as we went along.

Basically if the zombies killed you they would stay in contact with you to try and convert you into a zombie. We had 3 types of zombies, normal, elite and monsters. Normal zombies needed a 6 to turn you, elite a 5 and monster a 4.
Normal and elite zombies had a 5+ FnP, elite zombies also had 6+ armour save.

So one of us goes down, you can rez a friend on a 4 of if you stand next to them but you lose your turn (think Left 4 Dead), but you cant try to rez them if zombies are in base contact with them trying to convert them.

I try to block off any zombies trying to get to the guy, it works but I end up in assault and my character was ranged based.
So the guy is rezzed but I go down, one guy was assault based so he just rushed in while the other guy was trying to rez me. 1 zombies come into contact with me, the assault guy attacks them with his 7 attacks, and cause 3 wounds. They have no armour save so its just the FnP rolls. Just 1 has to die for me to be free for them to try and rez me.
I roll the 3 5+FnP and each one of them comes up a 5 :D This cost us the game because the assault guy was not able to get out of assault because we had literally 100 zombies heading his way and he was not able to kill them fast enough to get out of combat. So with me being dead and the zombies surrounding the assault guy I end up becomming a zombie, assault guy goes down and becomes a zombie so now all that is left is the last guy who happens to be a shooter as well.

He basically gets owned by the assault guy.

If I would have been rezzed we would have had quite a big chanse to survive, the problem was it took so long to rez the guy who was down. 3 whole turns, first its on a 4 up, then 3 up, then 2 up and we rolled a 1 3 times in a row. The zombies have slow and purposeful but they can still get quite far in a round. There is a necromancer who pops up zombies every turn, 2D6 normal zombies, 3+D6 elite or 1 monster, on the zombie chart if you roll 1-3 its normal zombie, 4-5 its elite and 6 for monster. And this is every turn, so there was ALLOT of zombies heading our way.

It was really awsome but we losing came down to 3 5+FnP rolls where only 1 needed to be completed to allow for rez.
I was laughing blood when I rolled 3 5 :D

Ohh I have a few lucky ones
1.Probably about my 7th game I was playing my gks against csms with a great unclean one,the game was victory points I was leading at the 5th by 1 point so as a last itched attempt to wipe out my gk terminators (only 3 guys left due to a rather brutal battle with a Demon prince and later on some zerkers) he assaults with the unlcean one gets three wounds the game was down to my three inv saves 5+ I said a quick prayer to the emperor and rolled with my eyes shut I then hear angrily cursing from my friend and apoon opening my eyes I notice I had rolled 3 6s for possibly the most creepy win I have ever made.
2.Marines vs necrons (same friend as previous match) monolith decides to shoot its particle whips at my squad holding objectives.In range.All hits.I get ready to remove my men.Friend rolls.All ones I thank the god emperor as he swears and starts telling me the exact odds that he would roll all ones.

I do get some very good luck some times :D

Most memorable thing was playing in a tournament with a Culexus Assassin in the list. Then playing 2 opponents with seer councils. It was brutal ;)

Unfortunately my list of bad luck / dumb things would probably crash the board server... :(

My best luck was an old 3.5 ed Khornate biker lord in a combined 8000 per side game, long before Apocalypse. I turbo-boosted him across the field, right in front of ~1500 points from their army. They unloaded into him for all 6 turns, while he cut his way through them one squad at a time.

In the end, my ~170 point lord had killed almost everything there (easily 1000 points), and had shrugged off 6 turns of having 1500 points of stuff shooting at him, from bolters to lascannons, and only taking a single wound the entire time.

Played Orks against my buddies daemons and I thought I was toast, I had the warboss and his nobs left and that was it.

I was going to get charged the next turn so I wanted to go out in a blaze of glory.

As I recall, I had a warboss with PK, 6 nobs with 3big Choppas and 2 power klaws, one WAAGH banner bearer with power claw and one pain boy. (or something very close to that)

I charged (multi charged) one soul grinder on my right, herald of Korn on chariot, herald of Tzeench on chariot 8 blood letters and another soul grinder on the left.

I was thinking I would blow up a few things and kill a couple more and go out in a blaze of glory! After blinking a few times at the end of the first round of combat, I had killed the Tzeench herald, blown up one soul grinder and wiped out most of the blood letters, 5 or 6 successful +5 cybork body saves in a row later I only lost 1 nob and had several wounded. Next round I kill the herald of Khorne (who kills the warboss) and the rest of the blood letters and lose no one. Third round of combat I kill the last soul grinder and win the game!

Best of Luck:

I played a game of Eldar Vs SoB back in third edition. I was the Eldar, and the SoB had literally killed everything but a single farseer and a warlock. The SoB had only taken maybe 33% casualties. The warlock and farseer survived 3 full turns of action, killed about 50% of the SoBs single-handedly, and lived long enough to see the game play to a draw. Fortune and a 4+ inv. ruled that day, thanks to the dice gods, of course.

My favorite and most deadly model, drum roll please..........Rasta Guardsman w/ missile launcher

At a GW event day i had 1 Demolisher, 1 Chimera and a ten man squad of guardsmen against a landraider 2 tac squads in rhinos and a razorback with a dev squad. First turn i get wiped out. Only model left is 1 guardsman with a ML. For 6 turns in a row he makes every last man standing test, hits every single time, makes every cover save, and kills everything on the board. The GW employee kept everyting on his board edge. I blew up the landraider with 3 6's in a row then each turn cracked open a rhino and ran the squads. Then the razorback and the dev squad The store was so amazed they gave me a free land raider. To this day Rasta Guardsman is always with me and still is the bane of my friends. Some go for him before my Battle Tanks ( and yes he is still painted a ridiculous orange with brown and yellow cammo from when i was 11)

In a 3-game campaign, the same IG Vet. Sgt. (Sgt. Mitnik) killed my opponent's Chapter Master two games in a row. Sgt. Mitnik was promoted to Lt.

Worst luck ever
A 30-man platoon blob with an attached Lord Commissar (LD 10, Stubborn), lost a close combat by 1, failed their morale check from hand to hand, rolling an 11. The Commissar shot the Sgt. Then they failed the morale check AGAIN, this time rolling a 12! 30 guys gone, just like that!

For bad my worst was in fantasy. Last game at 'ard boys, I was in the running for top 3 and BAM suddenly i couldnt make a dice roll to save my life. Failed 6 out of 7 2+ saves, couldnt hit anything it was awful. All I managed to kill was a handful of models between 2 units he tabled me.

Typhus has to be my luckiest HQ I have ever used, In one round of combat I have had him kill 9 terminators and in another game he has done nothing but kill himself. He is still far and away my favorite HQ in the game. :eek:

Before a single dice is rolled opponent says " lets see if a marine really is that good."

Result - 2 dead guardsmen, fail morale check and sweepind advance = 10 dead guardsmen.

My S' Priest Zylo has never died in 17 years of gaming. He has really fought just about anything you can think of but titan class and lived. (Thx for the name Dan)
And my assault squad Maliki has never had a casuilty since they where made in 2001.

1. Grot squad killing Mephiston.

2. GK Grandmaster raping the swarm-lord (force-weapon)

3.50 conscripts (First rank, Second rank...) killed a hive tyrant + plus his retinue.

4. GK Grandmaster + retinue(terminators) + Ragnar, assaulting multiple vehicles out of a land raider crusader..it was epic

5. facing "Mech" (leafblower'ish) IG with SW and winning. :D it was objectives and he didn't know Bjorn became one...

bad/ugly:

1. GK Grand master killed by 1 power fist attack

2. Khorne bloodthirster losing CC to tau fire-warriors...

3. Ragnar killed by a las pistol...

Best luck - Blowing up a brand new land raider aries first turn in a 3 way battle with a tounge shot
- Having my 3 phlegm grinders win me a 750 dubles game when my opponent got tabled realy quick and only 2 grey knight grand masterrs remaining and contesting the objective my opponent was on in a building
Worst Luck - Losing all my first wave to deepstrike mishaps losing me the game
- getting phased put in 1 turn with crons
- Mishapping all units i use for the first time and losing them, LoC, GuO, letters, grinders etc...
Best model - well my unit of fantasy khorne warriors of chaos my equilavent of khorne beserkers...

In 'ard boys 2008 second round, playing Orks vs black Templars.

Ghazzy and 9 nobs take out, single-handedly, 7 assault terminators, 36 total marines, the Emperor's champion and a LRC...in return I took 1 wound on ghazzy and lost 6 of the nobs. I tabled him, and on top of it completely forgot to use my lootas!

A couple weeks ago, playing Tau:

A single guardsman survives 10 fire warriors by going to ground. I decided to run to an objective instead of shooting him. Next turn he kills one with a meltagun, assaults and kills another. I proceed to hit 7 times out of 9 swings..but did not get a single wound! The firewarriors fail LD and get swept..

luckiest game- when my one chaos spawn took on a 5 man space wolf termy squad and wiped them out in two rounds of combat and walked away

best unit- typhus... hands down. wiped out over 40 models in one turn (nurgles rot and combat)

worst game- chaos dreadnaughts suck! everyturn my plasma cannon dread turned and gunned my army down for the enemy lol

Luck: A lone Dark Eldar Archon walking up to a pair of Wraithlords and giving them what for.

Unit: 6 Vanguard Marines, these guys have never let me down, even managing to eat a landraider and a vindicator from a HI (at the same time).

Worst: Lysander and a rather expensive terminator unit deepstriking right off the board and into the dead pile.
