Is everyone just really busy with life or playing 40K and WHFB?

A little of both, though I did just order a Realm of Battle Gameboard and Imperial Strongpoint (tired of playing on improvised surfaces with improvised terrain since I've moved to my new place), as well as the new Daemon Prince, Horrors, and I advance ordered two sets of Bloodcrushers. I am now eagerly awaiting what is sure to be a massive box, and already have my construction table out, along with a full task force of minio - friends to assist me in the priming and basing process. :)

yeah, sorry bout that bigred, i took some pics of my force(finally managed to get some vaguely ok pics, but no PC) and some of this weekends terminate the daemonhosts(including a massive CC brawl of sisters, lunarwolves, salamander, 2 homebrew SM chapters, black legion and ork nobs). ill try to get the old PC working, and post some up later if i can. im guessing you guys are sorting articles etc for wargamescon, and as such are busy. i guess a lot of guys(and gals) are doing so for their own blogs etc.

I figured the summer months would probably be less busy.

I've just been busy browsing forums and getting to know the 8th edition WHFB rules. I know this is the 40K forum, but this is where most people seem to post. And I wanted to let everyone know what I have been up to.

I've been trying to answer rules questions which in turn have been teaching me the rules even better. I find that a lot, when teaching or preparing a lesson, you often times end up learning more than the students (I'm going to be an ROTC instructor at Brigham Young University when I leave this sand box).
I also just purchased, like, 7000+ points of High Elves. I know I know, wrong forum.

Oh, I have had lots of models painted while I've been deployed. I commission my best friend to paint them. He does a really good job IMHO. So, What happens when you make some extra cash and you can't paint and your best friend can? The following lol.

Here are the links to what I've had done while I've been gone.

This guy is a roving rogue techmarine type. lol.

This guy was made for me as a welcome home present for when I get back.

My planetary empires that I had commissioned out

http://awakeningynnead.blogspot.com/2010/07/completed-ravenwing.html
My Raven Wing, so far, more models will be added later

My best friend also just stopped by my house and picked up my battle foam display board. He's going to paint that up really nice.

So, that's what I've been up to.

I apologize for posting so much random stuff under the General 40K forum. :D

Respectfully,
DarkAngelHopeful

I rather like the quiet.

It is better than the 5 millionth "Whats your lucky game/best unit/worst experience/etc you've ever had?" cliche thread.

The Summer and the Holiday Seasons tend to be the times when few people visit online forums. It's not until Fall and Spring when people come back in droves. Also, weekends tend to see a significant drop in posts.

I'm trying to work on my archaeology thesis while at the same time battling a Starcraft II addiction. Not so much time for BolS.

Finally getting my IG army into a playable state, so assembling and painting 35 Wargames Factory Shock Troops (1 CCS and 3 vet squads). I play a fluffy, friendly Chaos army, so it'll be fun to finally field something terrifying.

After that, another 30 WGF shock troops with three breaching drills (three vet squads with a drill a piece). Not sure where the extra five guys are coming from - might be interesting to buy some Renegade militia enforcers and make them squad sarges.

I spent the summer swimming with the kids... got away for a trip out to Las Vegas... now all of my time is spent getting my classroom ready for next school year and a new batch of students....

On the gaming front, Firestorm Armada has caught my eye. I LOVE the models. My local game store let me know that a copy of the rulebook and the starter kit I want just came in so I'm headed over there this evening to pick it up... one more thing to add to my painting queue...

FSA is the first game in a LONG time that has drawn me in just because the models look so darn cool. I was walking through the game store, saw them, and my jaw hit the floor. A couple of my regular group have been playing it (and a naval game by the same company) and say it is good so I'm in like Flynn...

I'm busy painting a Destroyer. Not happy about having to spend a whole day carefully removing mold lines from rivets, but I'm the one who constantly says that I like plastic minis better than metal, so there ya go. (Wrong section? Sure but that is the answer to your question.)

I'm glacially working on my Pre-Heresy Death Guard drop-pods. Black on the inside, and white on the outside... those things are the devil to paint...

Glad to see the regulars start to filter back in as the end of Summer approaches.

Its the summer holidays for the kids over here in the uk so my laptop has been used by a 4 year old playing wonder pets games. Although it's gave me some time to get some more models painted.

I'm staring at 4 painted Hormagaunts... trying to ignore the other 20 I have to paint for an upcoming doubles competition.

on the other hand, I've just ordered a load of Forgeworld Rippers and Ripper swarms for the same comp.

Better get back to it :D

Too much getting ready for baby. Not enough time for painting--mini's that is. Baby's room, shutters, basement--those I somehow have time to paint!

@eldargal: 1) What's your thesis/area of study for archeology? I minored in Anthro, an dug the arche side of things. 2) SCII--is it actually worth it? Haven't played it yet--too fond of the initial game, and haven't been hearing much on the new one yet at all...

Classical Archaeology with a particular focus on Rome. Having a bit of trouble with the specific thesis topic actually, grumble grumble. I'm more of a material culture girl myself, not as interested in the anthropological aspects. I love Starcraft II, in fact I just got up at 4:am to get in a few hours before I have to start arguing with my thesis supervisor again.

I'd love to do that. I have an Anthro degree with an archaeology focus, but couldn't afford grad school and then got caught in a departmental political grab :(

(sulks off and wishes he could study in Europe)

That's the reason I didn't dual-major. A lot of my friends in college went the full undergrad Anthro/Arch degree route.

But something about the fact that having your bachelors degree only qualifying you to be a blue-collar worker in your field was just a tad disturbing to me.

Not that being a shovel-jockey didn't have it's appeal, mind you.
