View Full Version : Skaven 2nd Wave before end of year

Warseer's collated reliable rumors look like this:
Tretch
One resculpted character
Hellpit Abominaation
Plastic Weapon Teams? (Otherwise a unknown plastic kit)
3 Unknown metal blisters (read blisters, not boxed sets)
1 Metal Bitz pack
And finally one Skaven art book/heraldry book
There aren't many unaccounted months left before the end of year, so either GW breaks with tradidion and stuffs this into December, or it gets released alongside other WFB stuff like IoB and the High Elves 2nd wave in the September-October slots.

1 Metal Bitz pack
^ These ones will be released in the second release slot in September following IoB. The 3 "unknown" blisters are actually three of the same thing as it were. ;)

I have also heard that there will be new releases for an existing range in December. But as mentioned above, GW is stating January for Skaven. Here's the text from the newsletter:
In January 2011, following the epic release of The Island of Blood, the Skaven will be receiving reinforcements, including new models - visit the website tomorrow for more information from the Studio. And with these new additions gathering on the horizon, there is no better time to start up or expand your very own Skaven army.
Now what could be the December release that breaks with the gift item tradition?

I had some inside info tell me that the hellpit and warp lightning cannon are being released in January

I've heard exactly the same thing through my own contacts.
That newsletter they sent yesterday was a bit underhanded though. It said there would be more info on their website today, but there's nothing new there at all. Just a pile of adverts for the existing Skaven model range. I don't usually find fault with GW's marketing tactics, but I'm calling foul on this one.

Just had a look on the GW site and there really isn't much there other than "Look, Skaven! we'll show you some of it later".
Here's a link to the article itself: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=12500033a

I should hope that they release a Gutter Runners/ Night runners regement as the current ones are painfully old and don't match the aestetic of the new line. To me they look more like baboons than rats.
I'd also like to see new censer bearers, poison wind globadiers and jazzails for that matter as long as they're plastic

anyone else notice how there were thirteen tolls of the bell in the video?

Rejoice, smelly rodent men:
as I have already said before new Skaven are released on 15th Jan, it's NOT a rumour it's a FACT!
New Skaven stuff will be featured on the GW website next week, and up for pre-order from 29th December.

up for pre-order from 29th December. This confirms what I've been told by GW management since their last Las Vegas sales meeting that Advance Orders going forward will appear on the GW website on Wednesdays so as to allow one-man stores that are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays to potentially capture those orders in the stores.

I checked those pics out on Dakkadakka earlier today. It all looks pretty good to me. I love large monsters so I see at least one HPA in my future, plus two kits to make a Catapult and Lightning Cannon. The large metal grinder looks great, shame it's not plastic, but it looks so cool if it's not to pricey I might get one anyway.

Everything looks good to me except the Abomination, I would have liked to seen a more muscle bound sculpt instead the one that has nurgle-itis.

The Abomination has an interesting design, although I am not sure how to take the lower body. It just seems too small. Everything else looks fabulous, however.

I am loving the Hell pit abomination, not sure about the warp lightning cannon picture, but hey, at least it not metal any more. Ikit Klaw seems nice and wow, plastic weapons teams. They really are trying to push forward Skaven this edition.

I have seen pics on a GW-computer:
- a warpstone drill team
- hellpit abomoniation (a lot of parts)
- and a named Skaven character with a three-headed flail (don't know the name)
Hope this helps ! :D

That doom flayer looks really nice!
*sigh*
sculpts so awesome that they have a far too good chance to suck me into fantasy just after buying a whole DE army with the last releases?
sometimes I hate GW for producing such nice stuff!

This stuff is out on the 15th, its now on the gw website (though it looks broken and theres no prices so maybe an early leak however with it being so soon its more likely) theres also a heraldry book.

Ok so looking at the new model for the Warplightning cannon. It appears that the cannon is actually placed on a scaffold giving it a better los! I would think that it would now sit ABOVE the heads of normal rank and file Skaven allowing you to shoot over your stuff! If this is so I think I will save myself the money and just put my old already painted cannon on the back of the screaming bell mount and call it good!!
