I just read the life story of Alfred Wintle a man who comes across as a cross between Chuck Norris and Captain Manwaring.

for example

"When, in September 1939, World War Two began he tried everything to persuade his superiors to allow him to go to France.

When they refused he planned to resign his commission and form his own army "to take the war to the Hun".

For those of you who are interested(its a brilliant read) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Wintle

I was wondering which Special character would be best so as to proxy "the last englishman" in a game of 40k

he comes across as a bit sly marbo, a bit straken. He once ordered a soldier to stop dying immediately and to get a haircut. The soldier lived to 95.

That is a true english man and a man which Douglas Bader can be justly compared against. Want to believe its all true, but on Wiki with no references i'm a bit dubious. Its just too amazing to be true!

As for rules he blatantly needs FNP. And the abiltiy to confer it to his squad. And obviously fearless!

I am now trawling the internet for a copy of the autobiography.

Me too- unfortunately it costs about £100-200 second hand.

The sources check out- http://www.archive.org/stream/ageofjackson030983mbp#page/n149/mode/1up gives much of it.
I'll check the victorian bar review next time i'm in a law library but that won't be till at least sept.
