Life's been a bit hard these past couple of months, but I'm just getting back into hobbying. Thought I'd share my latest conversion work. I've been converting up some Hydras but rather than go the autocannon route, I thought I'd base them of the British Army Starstreak close air defence system ....

Here's what I've come up with ....

There was quite a bit of work involved with converting the chimeras as they were a trade and in a pretty bad state. If you're interested in the work involved, it's detailed on my blog ...

Hope you like them guys.

I like the brass mesh, or grill. That would be handy stuff to have laying around when it came to conversion time!

Simple conversion, but very very effective. Wonderful work!

As someone who runs a full air force in apoc games, these things are my first targets, and the bane of my life....

Harker's squads sitting on the paint station just waiting for my dremmel. Hopefully, I'll be posting pics of them soon.

It's out of the 40k basing kit, must admit it works a treat for vents. Shame I've run out now.

Thanks matey, with the amount of fast skimmers in the game round here, they're a must needed addition to my army.

I'm planning another one which will be a bit special, just need to get the bits, so I'm not sure whether it'll be painted pics or another conversion I post next, but I'll post something as soon as I've got it.

You can get very similar stuff at a craft store, but it's plastic instead of brass. It basically looks the same, but it's used for some kind of yarn or needle work. You can get a big sheet of it for a pretty reasonable price, though, and the mesh comes in many sizes. It's called plastic canvas in the US.

Granny Grating!!

This stuff is great, and CHEAP! The last piece I purchased was less than a dollar and was about 12" x 12" !

NOTE!: Most of the time, this product contains a mold-release agent which is very much not unlike the same stuff that coats Forge World resin models. So, wash it in warm soapy water before use!

Nice conversions, good to see you have taken the time and effort to mod the hull, instead of just doing a simple turret swap.
