Yesterday I went into my local GW and saw some Catachans fighting some Orks. The Catachan player was using Ratlings, which were represented with Fantasy Skinks with blowpipes on round bases.

Now, I like this idea and I have the spare bases, so I want to see if I can go one better (plus it gives me another reason to get Cold One Rough Riders). How do you suggest I mod/ replace the blowpipes to represent sniper rifles?

Laser sights on blow pipes! Telescopic scopes on pea shooters!

going through a similar problem with brettonian yeomen counts as Frateris militia. try to tech them up. my yeomen are getting Tek-bows(replacing old ones with a composite type bow with sights and new arrowheads). the skink models arent really posed right for holding sniper rifles, so itd be much harder to do than modifying the pipes themselves i guess.

An excellent idea, let us know what you come up with.

You could maybe leave the blow pipe alone and modify the skink to be more 40k looking- bionic bits or more simply guard accessories. Or you could always do both.

From a fluff perspective you could say they're some variant of loxacotl

This looks like the most sensible idea considering how thin the pipes are. I'm thinking targeter eyes.

how about using skinks with trimmed kroot arms? cut the blades off, and you've got some alieny arms with a nice long rifle...

Kroot rifles are a safe bet for a fantasyesque gun, but if I use the actual arms, are they really proportionate to the Skink? I want this to be a simple job without having to chop much stuff up (read: I only do very light conversion work).
