New Army Recommendations

I’m new to warhammer and looking to start a dark elf army. I would like some recommendations on the creation of a well rounded casual play/ tournament style list that encompasses magic, close combat and shooting.

Money is tight and I would like to minimize my spending on troops that I probably will never use or purchasing too many models of one troop choice.

Need Advice on where to start...

Sorry for the late reply, but if that's what you want, than good news, because the Dark Elves are jerks of all trades when it comes to those departments. I'd recommend en masse spearmen and crossbowmen, with some Repeater Bolt Throwers, and of course, sorceresses. Mayhaps some Cold One Knights for flank support.
