Hey, everyone! I've been reading the content on BoLS for several months, and I have to say I'm greatly satisfied with most of what's posted. I saw the forums here and figured, "Well, looks like a friendly place. Why not register and contribute?" Three or four weeks of procrastination and two minutes of typing later, here I am. :D
I play Imperial Guard in 40k, but due to limited income my progress with it has been rather slow. I do have four games under my belt, half of them wins and the other half losses. I intend to bring it to Apocalypse scale (and the Stormlord kit that's sitting in my work area is just itching for that day), and then move onto another project.
Further projects... I've considered a lot. If I continue with 40k, the only factions I'm really not interested in are Necrons, Tyranids, and Dark Eldar. I have nothing personal against them, I just don't like them for various reasons. I do like having a mobile force, so the factions with a high degree of that (and good assault capability) are high up on the list.
With the 8th edition of Fantasy, I'm also putting renewed thought into starting an army for that system. Of the current factions, my top choices so far are Dark Elves, High Elves, Brettonians, Warriors of Chaos, Orcs & Goblins, and Empire. I'm really after something that can dish out pain rather swiftly, offense over defense. Decent magic and shooting would be a nice little something extra, but if it does nothing then... whatever. I can still shove an axe or sword into it.
Thanks to BoLS (yes, they are the reason for this), I'm also considering convincing some friends to get into Warmachine/Hordes (are you supposed to capitalize the full word in "Hordes?"). It's hard to go wrong with steampunk mecha, and it's wicked easy to start. I'm liking the look of Cygnar, Retribution, and Cryx.
Well, sorry about the lengthy intro. I'm off to see if I can get some modeling and painting advice.
