I've been collecting for 15yrs my army is huge over 20,000 pts. Should I just play Apocalypse for my first game? I understand the rules for the game I just wanna use them all

If you want to use them all, then you can do it. Just make sure you know what you're getting into... an apocalypse game that large is going to be an all-day affair. And if you don't have any titans, fliers (or at least anti-air units) or superheavies, you shouldn't let your opponent use theirs.

As a side note, some things you need to bring in order to ensure the game runs smoothely:
Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook
Apocalypse Rulebook
Your army's(ies') codex(ices)
Your army's(ies') Errata/FAQ pdf, printed out
Multiple copies of your army list, printed out/photocopied
Multiple copies of any Apocalypse Datafaxes you intend to use, printed out
A good friend/opponent (or both) who can walk you through it
Snacks, drinks
Patience
Apocalypse is not the ideal way to get into the hobby, but then again, its rules are supposed to be fast and loose anyway so this might not be that bad of an idea if you just want to see everything you have in action and don't expect to win.

Do you know anyone who games? Is there a local game store?
You should be able to put together a game using that many figures - just set it up at home and invite some friends over for pizza, beer and 40K! It doesn't matter if you go for an Apoc game or not.....just push toys and have fun!

Keep in mind that your first few games will go at a much slower pace than a veteran tactican's game would. It'll take longer to deploy and make tactical decisions while you are learning the army. Apocalypse games are always long, but an apocalypse game with 20,000 points per side with a newer player could be a multi-day event.
If you want to learn and still get to play with all of your models, I'd suggest an escalation campaign with a friend. Start your first game at 500 points, then the second game at 1000, third at 1500, fourth at 2000, and then Apocalypse at whatever point value you want.
You could also try a 2v2 game. Having an ally to help with tactical decisions and rules questions can make things go more smoothly.

Snacks and drinks are very important, nothing makes a 10 hour session of Apocalypse into a living hell like lack of drinks and nibbles. Also, and I realise this probably won't apply to many of you, lipstick as I find after a few turns I need touch ups. I've found when playing with less experiences and slower Apocalypse players a book to read can be helpful too, unless someone has to supervise them actively.

In direct response to your original question:
No. You shoud not do this thing.
40k is a very complicated game, and even if you have read the rulebook very well, and think you understand the rules, you do not. The billion ways units interact in this game can't be accounted for by simply reading the rules. Doubly so in Apocalypse, since you are adding even more rules.
You should play at least 4 games before you go on to apocalypse, you'll cut the time it takes to play in half and you will have a MUCH better time. Get some friends to play a few 1,000 point games with you so you can get your rules down, and then go for apocalypse.
But seriously, don't jump into apoc as your first game. I've had friends try to introduce friends to 40k through apoc, and it always turns them off. It's just not fun unless you're solid on your rules and play.

Yeah, I'm with Biscuit - Apoc is for when you know the rules and how things workin game (even if you know the theory it's often differnet actually doing it). Apoc has too much going on at once for too long to be a first game.

If you're playing larger games, make sure that you take breaks here and their to rest/re-invigorate yourselves.
Believe it or not, playing a game for hours on end can be mentally draining.
Have fun!

Yeah. And before you seriously commit yourself to this, remember that this is going to be a long, involved affair. It won't be easy your first time.
Kinda like Eldar sex.

As mentioned above maybe you should start with a smaller game first and then work your way upto a larger battle with that many points, it would take you more than a day if this is your first game with that sized battle.
Snack, drinks, music i find helps too to break boredom and a few freinds to encurage or advise the rules for larger games or first timers.
Goodluck with the game

You think your experience was awkward?
Eldar reproduction takes months to complete at least.

I would advise against playing Apocalypse as your first game.
Spend a month playing 40k at the 1500 point level. You'll learn to appreciate the game better when you DO play Apocalypse... Trust me.

Nope, not awkward--duration.
Let's just say I was previously unaware that a pelvis could be bruised...
