Idea for Plasma Pistol and Power Fist

I am working on a few ideas for my General for my IG. I don't want to just give him a Power Fist and Plasma gun so I have come up with a few ideas.

1. Bionic upgrades - got a few thoughts on this.

2. Some sort of xeno tech - less keen on this as I am sure the =][= would have something to say.

3. Some kind of Archo tech - got a few ideas, but not sure how the admech would react.

The bionic bit would work for a power fist. Alternatively, a high-tech sledgehammer.

For the plasma pistol, I'll go the Dead Space route - plasma cutter. Or the plasma thing The Predator has in the Predator movies.

Shoulder-mounted cannons do have some precedent in this universe as Imperial tech, too. We've seen them at least twice in the Ghosts series.

And that's basically what an aux. grenade launcher is.

Similarly, Ballistic Mechadendrites (servo arms are a kind of mechadendrite) are a class of shoulder-mounted weaponry on techpriests.

I was thinking the Plasma could be a high power laser, rather than plasma, as it means that it could have been done on his home world by a friend/family member. Thats if going down the Bionic route.


Are you sure its a plasma thing the Predator has?

Anyway, now I got to work on the back stories. It will be short, but feed back would be appreciated. Trying to get it as fitting the 40K fluff (as to was is or isnt viewed as likely) as possible. Hoping to end up writing a few stories in the end based on how my IG do on the table top (could be over very quickly)

Pretty sure it's a plasma thing the Predator has. But a high-powered laser could be cool; like a mining laser or laser cutter.

I'm thinking, feel free to disregard it if it's not fitting, more of a weaponized mining equipment. I.E mining laser/laser cutter for the pistol, some form of crusher or hydraulic thing for the pwoerfist. Just throwing some ideas out there.

For purposes of focusing creativity, could you clarify for me what this thread is about? Just alternate ideas for how to represent a power fist and/or plasma pistol? Any other constraints or more specific questions? I just don't want to throw out useless off-topic info.

Representing a Power Fist and Plasma Pistol on a HQ or similar as something else. Reasons would be good to, like how they came have what they have, thus the 3 questions at the beginning.

I hope to use this to get some ideas for my IG HQ (pics may follow at some point)

For the power fist, something hydraulic could work. Or some type of drill. Or a pneumatic jackhammer.

For the pistol, some type of high-power cutting tool. Or a rocket launcher tonfa not unlike the Lt. Col. Kilgore from Bayonetta.

The power fist could also just be a really big sword. After all, a really big power chainsword acts as a chainfist in the hands of a battle sister. Take away the chain and you get a really big sword that acts like a power fist in the hands of a guardsman, right?

Looking through the BRB and thinking that some kind of Dark Age tech could be possible. The picture in the time line the the dude pointing his (her) fingers and something blasting out of em.

Going to go look through my bits box and see what I can find online.

Keep the ideas coming, fluff examples, what bits and anything else thats relevant.

In case it hasn't been said already, I like the idea of the plasma weapon being some kind of laser. Lascannons are proof enough that laser weaponry can be as destructive, if not moreso, than plasma weaponry, and the Gets Hot! rule could easily be explained as the result of such a powerful miniaturized laser.

EDIT: Okay, this would need an awesome modeling job in order to not look totally stupid, but what about a really big sword that also had a laser barrel running along one side, kind of like a pistol dagger (http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/c9/3/AAAAAuC7bjkAAAAAAMk9aA.jpg) writ large? Especially if there was a power cable that connected the blade to a belt or backpack power source, as in some of the older power fist models?
