Hi all.

Well this is my first thread and I thought I'd talk about the masses of models I inherited randomly the other day! My dad knew a guy at work who said he had some Warhammer stuff he was looking to get rid of - a couple of months later my dad turns up with 4 Boxes of stuff - including a massive Mail Order Box with a date from 1995! This is what turned up...

An estimated 5,000 points of (nigh on a battle company) of marines which include:
20 Terminators (10 original metal ones - 10 plastic ones), 8 10-man tactical squads (10 RTB01, Mixed space crusade, 2nd ed 40k, 10 new), 1 10 man Scout Squad (plastic space crusade I think), 2 10 man Assault Squads (metal in need of weapon swaps), 1 10 man Devastator Squad, 5 bikes, 1 Rogue Trader era Chaplain on bike, 1 Apothecary, 1 Terminator Captain (old school), 1 Teminator Librarian/Chaplain, 2 Librarians (1 converted on a bike), 1 chaplain, 1 captain (with bionic leg and bolter), 1 old Techmarine (the one with the face like a goat), 4 Servitors, 4 plastic twin-linked lascannon tatantulas, 4 complete Mk1 rhinos, 1 complete Mk1 Predator, 2 Dreadnoughts and 1 original metal landspeeder with crew...

A small Guard army:
Mordian Iron Guard Infantry Platoon - 2 Infantry Squads, Command Squad, 3 Mortars, 3 Lascannons (full crew), 5 reaonably converted Rough Riders, a Commissar, A Griffon (yes!), A Chimera and a Lemun Russ.

A Small Genestealer Cult (keeping!)
44 Genestealers, 2 patriarchs, 1 Magus & 3 familiars, 13 plastic hybrids, 4 old school plastic nid warriors, 15 platic termagents and 1 complete Screamer Killer/Carnifex!

2 full Redemptionist (everything)/Van Saar Gangs and various hired guns...

10 original Scavvies

Many Undead characters and troops including
Nagash (hell yeah!), Henirich Kemmler, classic Vlad & Isabella, Vampire Lord, Mounted Necromancer on Zombie Dragon, Necromancer, a hand full of skeletons and horsemen, a screaming skull catapult...

...and an Eversor Assassin...

A box of complete 2nd/3rd edition Warhammer books (I forget which) including numerous cards, templates etc...

I'm currently stripping them (a lot of work as the paint is so old and fairly caked on, but it is coming off) and undercoating them squad by squad.

The only thing I need are suggestions for the Marines? After I've stripped them, eventually, what army should I re-paint them as?

I can't decide - also I'm unsure whether or not to re-sell them all or in part as part of my hatchling commission/auction service. Is it worth me keeping this stuff (as I play rarely but still love painting/fluff and am fairly sentimental/mental) or do you think there'd be a profitable interest in a fully restored classic army? I'm thinking Vanilla marines of some decription as there's little room for conversion work...but I'm slightly loathed to do them as Ultramarines...or do you think that's the best option? It's a nice problem isn't it?

I'd be interested to know what you guys think. Thanks for looking...

Wow, thats one hell of a haul!
Are the terminators Mk1/2 or the metal versions of the current ones? I'd certainly take a few bits off your hands if you decided to sell!
You should post some pix of the swag anyway to make us all jealous..

Well here's some photo's I took quickly...in answer to your question some are the Mk1's - some are the Mk2's...I'll try and strip them (one I tested is being a little stubborn) as I wouldn't want to sell anything in as bad a condition as they are currently without at least trying. If I decide to sell them I'll let you know. Enjoy!

One of the boxes that greeted me :D

my first thought is pre heresy battle company... maybe deathguard? Somthing thats not seen very often but is still pretty easy to do (and made to look great) without resorting to Ultra Smurfs
