Hi all yall cool knowledgeable gamers out there! I'm an avid 40k player and I need your help! I've been

collecting eldar for many a long year but never truly settled on a paint scheme. But now is the time! So far this

is what I am thinking: primary color is lich purple with possibly some warlock purple highlights. But, what then?

Codex or fortress gray wouldn't be bad for a tertiary color although not really noticeable. I've been told that

colors opposite each other on the color wheel look good and stand out so possibly some yellow flames? I can't

decide. what is your opinion almighty gaming community?

In all honesty I think Eldar need great painting skills and a great paint scheme to be done justice. The GW paint jobs and colour choices are sub-par IMO compared to some that you see online, and I myself will not be starting Eldar until I am 100% happy with my skills and scheme.

My advice: Buy some Simple Green and some Guardians, then paint some with some variations of your colour choices, then Simple Green the ones that you do not like and try again.

Cheers,
DT.

I've done things like that but I never seem to come up with anything satisfactory the liche purple is always too dark and anything that is painted on it turns out too dark as well because of the liche being the way it is. :(

This is similar to what I did. I ultimately found a scheme that looked really good in Dawn of War 2, then took that and tried out different methods on models until I found one I was satisfied with.

Then I went through one of each type of model I intend to make. I made a Howling Banshee, a Fire Dragon, A Dire Avenger, and so on so I had a base model to make sure the scheme worked. It took a long time to do it this way but it guaranteed a consistent look to all the models and the style was what I wanted.

You don't have to stick with GW paints. With Eldar models especially, the GW paint options become too restrictive unless you want to do a lot of mixing. I'd recommend Reaper paints or Vallejo for a slightly lighter purple than Lich Purple, and the color will pop much better.

Thank you for your lovely comments! I've been looking and posting on several forums such as this and gotten some good advice in addition to this picture!:

This is exactly what i'm looking for! I think thats base coat liche puple with warlock purple hightlights and a slight touch of skull white on the very edges of the armor. Am I right in that assumption and if so, how in the world do I learn to get that precision? Help plz!

Purple mixed with teal, black, and orange sounds like a total mistake but a friend of mine made it work a few years ago:
