Finished the rest of the first Shaper Council. Only 2 more to go. These are part of my BoLSCon Narrative Track army, and will be my best answer to super-heavy enemies, especially if I can get the first turn (18" assault range w/ 20x S8+2d6 attacks). The Kroot Mercs I'm building have more of a tech-Kroot theme, professional mercenaries with good gear and an eye towards the creative (http://www.majhost.com/gallery/darcoarco/WM/kbw-finished-1.jpg), instead of the naturalist native-Pech-Kroot you might seen in a Tau force.

For the project, I used the Chapterhouse Studios jump-packs, but with the turbofans snipped over, the pack flipped over, and then the turbofans reattached. This was necessary because the Kroot's quills get in the way otherwise. The rest of the kroot is normal, although the blades for the Eviscerators are mostly from ork boys/nobs. I still have some cleanup to do on the models, and painting, but at present they look as seen below. Sorry for the poor pictures.

So far I like them, the only thing I can't spot on the models are straps which attach the jump packs.
Did I simply miss them or are the jump packs attached in a different way?

The packs are attached to the pre-sculpted thing that the Kroot already wear on their backs (part of the model), but I am considering GS'ing some more robust straps that go around their fronts (or around their shoulders). Just trying to figure out how that would be work first.

Thanks.

Update: I've finished my 2nd Shaper Council (of 3). On this second set of Jump-Pack Shapers, I used an Eldar upper-torso, as it makes a much better mounting for the Jump Pack, and also looks pretty cool. Huge thanks to Gniknok for the idea for this. My other good idea was bits-ordering a bunch of different Ork choppas for my Eviscerators. I've now got a bit of diversity in the choppy-choppy category.

I also finished up some Kroot Vulturekin (wings are from old Gargoyles, I believe), and two Carnivore Kindred Shapers. Also started work on my Prey-Shaper's mount.

Here we are, the last and final of the 3 Shaper Councils. I made a little more use of bits and pieces from the Eldar torsos, including adding extra...things on the backs of the jumppacks. I also was able to use a spare Doomwheel driver head to make a fairly nice mask for one of them.

Time to paint!

While the paint on the Shaper Councils dries, and pictures await the taking, below is my army leader, a Master Shaper on a Greater Knarloc. It's still WIP, and probably will be until paint goes down. My work is only the mounting and the gun platform. Credit for the outstanding Greater Knarloc sculpt goes to BoLS Lounge's own Darius (http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/member.php?u=3447). It is truly extraordinary.

That master shaper looks wicked. That's one of the better scratch-built Knarlocs I've seen.

I'm curious where the rest of the doomwheel models is going to show up, though. I'm working on my own Kroot-driven doomwheel at the moment =).
