Hey all!
I am thinking about starting to do some commission work. If anyone has any info or experience, I'd love some help. I just don't know where to start.
I have a pricing structure figured out already and I'm going to take some pictures of my work.
Thanks so much in advance.

I've tried the same thing and it's hard. I am finding the best bet are local players who hate painting but have money to spend. You can paint all your stuff you want, but client jobs will attract the attention. Word of mouth goes a long way.

From the words of our local Golden Daemon winner/commissioned painter, "cool-mini-or-not is your friend."

I commissioned a guy to paint an army for me for the first time. I looked around for a bit before I finally settled on one guy and let me tell you there are a lot of different people out there doing alot of different **** and pricing that goes all over the map. This is the guy I'm using http://www.bkarmypainting.com/ run by Bill Kim. It's a great deal in terms of price wise to have a fully painted army. However if you just do a simple warhammer 40k comissions search on google, you'll see that everybody is literally doing something else.

If you're just doing local or short term then flyers at the local shops where u r a face works great, I know theres a bunch of people that do that near me and they almost always get business. Long term get your stuff out there on a lot of the sites, it doesn't really cost anything to post on the forums, and it also allows you an oppurtunity to show off to your customers WIP's and attract more business. Heck sometimes it doesn't even take more than just a link on the bottom of your forum signature. I knew of Bill Kim from Adepticon and Bashcon and his posts on DakkaDakka, and then somebody pointed out - oh look he paints, he's already done the same army I'm playing so I know how my stuff will look, and he's local.

Hopefully that helps a bit and best of luck!
