Battle Systems, the creators of a range of pre-printed terrain that's now run 3 very successful kickstarters in 3 years, are at it again. They currently have a new sci-fi range in kickstarter. There are 3 possible core sets, Galactic gives you clean white shiny surfaces, the Frontier is altogether grungier and badly in need of a maintenance crew, both these can be used to build a huge base or the interior of a star ship, and then there's the Outlands core set which gives you smaller external buildings to sit in an outdoors wasteland. All three compliment each other, so for example you could use Galactic walls to build an officer's area or a clean laboratory in a larger more run down base, and even use either set to make an outlands building larger and more varied inside. There's an enourmous quanitity of scatter items - from crates through to computer terminals and screens to flesh out your base and make it look simply fantastic, there are reactors to shut down, conduits to have your aliens crawl through, medi bays to heal people, detention centres to rescue people from (or lock aliens up in) - there are so many possible options. You can build upwards and lift upper floors off as you play so that you can access room below. the sky really is the limit.

It's well worth taking a look imho. Every single core set purchased gets you a complete set of freebies - over 70 additional items. A single core pledge will comfortably cover the 2'x2' game mat that it comes with including plenty of 2 and even 3 level high areas. In fact including the free stretch goals, you could comfortably cover a 4x2 layout. Upgrade to a second core pledge (and you can take any combination of sets you wish) and you'd easily cover a 4x2, and probably have more than enough to fill 6'x3' most of the time, especially if you've included some of the paid add-ons as well. A 4x pledge is quite simply a silly quantity of cardboard !

The cardstock is extremely high quality and the print quality really has to be seen to be believed. Add in some minis, and you'll lose yourself in your game, it really does make for an immersive experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Ok, I know it's not even been 24 hours, and I don't mean to spam the forum, but Battle Systems just released a preview of a future stretchgoal. They've designed a rather neat infested corridors pack - not infested walls like their original sci-fi set, but clip on infestations that cover both walls and floors and can be used in any of the core sets (and in fact even in their previous Urban Apocalypse set if you feel so inclined). This looks insane.

just a quick update, we've blown through the stretchgoals before the infestation add-on, both of which added more free stuff to a core pledge. There are now well over 80 pieces of free terrain - a mixture of architectural parts and scatter, well over what was given in their previous campaigns, and it works out at approximately a half a core set free for every core set purchased.

Battle Systems have announced pricing for the Infestation add-ons. There are 3 versions covering 1/3, 2/3 and a full single level of a 2'x2' setup (at least - it's depend on how you set up of course), priced at £12, £23 and £32 pounds.

This kickstarter is now inside the final 24 hours. It's approaching 1000% funded and when it gets there, there's another surprise to unlock. We're not sure what it is just yet, but it certainly looks promising.

Oh and something that may well interest anyone who's missed out in the past, Battle Systems has added their City Block and Shanty core sets from their incredibly successful Urban Apocalypse kickstarter as add-ons for this one.

Well Battle Systems finally revealed their super secret end of KS surprise, and it's not a full core pledge, and nor is it just a small engineering section. It's an add-on that can be integrated into the core sets of course, but is a standalone in its own right - a full single level gothic styled crawler. £50 including its own mat !
Perfect for chasing your favourite xenos around in!
Why not take an Outlands core set giving you a table's worth of cool buildings that can be played inside and out, and one of these on the side for when you break out Space Hulk ?

11 hours to go!
