I would love for games workshop to put in white dwarf magazine some special character stats from some of there novels. They do not need a fig, just a picture and stats, let us make the fig. You love these characters in the books and I know I cannot be the only person that wants to use them.
And why did they only make one primarch in the white dwarf and not the rest??????
Just a thought

Hey, why stop at special characters? I'd play an entire army of Gaunt's Ghosts just as soon as they posted the article!

I don't think Primarchs would be represented very well by the rules. I know Angron wasn't.
If there are characters you like, why not just try and stat them yourself? I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but it wouldn't be that hard to do. If they were in WD, they'd be for friendly games only anyways.

If they came out in WD then no one could argue they are to strong or don't cost enough or anything like that.

There are some people that if it wasn't published/written by GW they won't have it. Emperor knows my group doesn't have any sort of creativity or adventurousness like that.

;) I have always enjoyed the Caiphus Cain novels by Sandy Mitchell along with the Dan Abnett novels best of the BL offerings & decided to add Caiphus & Jurgan to my Valhallan 597th Regiment.
I used the rules & points for Commissar Lord for Caiphus plus Carapace Armour, Power Chain Sword with a Special Rule "Paranora" at + 10 pts which gives him + 1 to Initative & Strength if Charged.
Total Points = 100
Jurgen is classed as a Vetran Sgt with Carapace Armour, Meltagun & Blunt (physic hood) plus special rule "Miasma" which causes -1 to Enemy Morale with in 6" Total Points = 50
I have used these rules at our Games Club with my opponents approval & have never had anyone say NO.
I think they enjoy the Fluff behind the Character.
I also have a Salamander Scout Vehicle for the boys if points allow, costed out at FW points.
I am sure if you dont go "Overboard" with making your Character way too Powerful you will usually find players would accept it. :)

Very inspired rules! "Miasma" made me chuckle.

Yeah I would like to see a return of chapter approved article in the WD. I'm hoping that spearhead is a return in this direction. It would be cool to see more character models even if they were limited runs like the old Leonartes model from the Blood Quest series

that would be great, I miss chapter approved articles in WD.

I really miss the Index Astartes articles, as well as some of the other random little bigs of fluff/new rules.
I'm a big fan of Cain, too. It's my favourite BL series besides the HH novels; Sandy Mitchell is really an author that 'gets it'.
On the subject of the characters having to be in WD, I don't think this is true. If they're such *******s about it, they probably wouldn't allow it even if it was in WD.
Of course, don't just drop them down in a random game. Tell them about it in advance, and get some opinions on the rules/points cost. After you get approval, make sure not to bring them to every single game. Try and go for a balance of some special/fluff driven/campaign driven stuff (Where they can make their own character/unit too!) and bog standard games with no homebrew.
If all that fails, well...
