We are having a discussion in our gaming group that centers around nasty army list and what seems to make them. What we want to do is go codex by codex and come up with the best and worst list possible. This is where I could use your help and knowledge. Could you please post the most nasty and softest list that you can think of for the following codexes. I dont need fully fleshed out list but the elements used to make them. ( example - Orks with nob bikers and Gazgulh, Imperial Guard leafblowers with (specify tanks), duel lash Chaos plague marine lists with oblits, etc ) Here are the codexes I need your opinions on:

Black Templars
Blood Angels
Chaos Daemons
Chaos Space Marines
Daemonhunters
Dark Angels
Dark Eldar
Eldar
Imperial Guard
Necrons
Orks
Space Marines
Space Wolves
Tau Empire
Tyranids
Witch Hunters

Thank you for your help!

Don't forget Dark Angels and Black Templars.

Daemonhunters:

Spam stormtrooper melta squads for troops. Ally in Sisters and IG platoons as needed.

Take as many Land Raiders, filled with as many GK Terminators as possible. Both a GK Grand Master and Stern should be in the list.

Use the IST squads as screening when appropriate, or hide behind the Land Raiders to get close. Pop transports, then let the GKTs do their thing in close combat.

I won't even bother trying to post a worst list. Pretty much anything that doesn't revolve around GKs like this and possibly some allies is probably going to be horrible.

Immolator Spam for the witch hunters...

take a few mounted IG squads for some long range shooting...

Nothing better than 14 rhinos sitting on the table.

Thanks for the replies so far, keep them coming!

1) Ok, so with Sisters we have Rhino/ Immolator spam? What about Exorcists 1, 2, or 3?

2) I never thought of the stormtrooper spam with GK Termies in a landraider, thanks.

3) As for Blood Angels, why Astorath is bad? Is it agreed that Mepheston is good to unstoppable?

Never take anything but 3, unless you literally don't have the points.

To quote Melissia (pretty sure she said this)

Here is a short, comprehensive list of what Exorcists are effective against:

Everything

Gk give ALL your gk justicars Artifacer, and all your =][= bionics AND artifacer.. hurhurhur

Ummm.... I guess if that works for you... ;)

For the worse combo in an army, Daemonhunters:
Tooled up pyskers, with... Obsidian Rod!

I do question some of these lists though.
They seem like killer 4th edition lists, that people cannont get out of there minds; but aren't that great anymore.

I see a lot of Land Raider Spam. This isn't that great. Half your army in just three empty vehicles? Melta/Rollaz/Lances are going to eat this army for breakfast; and what guard/ork/eldar/nid force isn't packing a butt load of those weapons?

Dual Lash? Are we really still saying that that's still boss dog? With mech being so popular? I can undertand having one lash around for when the situation does come up, but a second one is just a waste of points. Winged Prince with warptime is a better points investment now.

I like the psykers with Obsidian Rod, nice!

Yes land raider spam and duel lash may not be the end all be all but what I am trying to do here is collect top tier and bottom tier lists. Both the previous mentioned armies are powerful, but it can be debated whether they are the best for certain.

I do agree a DP with warptime is pretty damn solid, give him wings and MoN and you got one of the best Chaos HQ builds available.

Don't forget you're blessed ammunition in your immolator with heavy bolter spam, and your pintle mounted storm bolter + the free one.

*Blessed ammunition is a godsend with true LOS, And the fact no one else ignores cover saves, so no one expects it.Chew those orks and nids apart, and guards men... you can buy a dominion squad with storm bolters for a nice fire base.. and an extra imm.

I have 12 immolators/rhinos and 3 exorcists.

It's literally the only way to play Daemonhunters, though.

In my area it still is.

Dual Lash is still so powerful it makes my jaw drop everytime I have to face it, even in my Dark Eldar heavy Raider list.

This is really fun to do. I will second the claim that no one expects it.

Yeah, nothing will stop this from being annoying as heck, and mech doesn't stop it from being effective.
