How do you paint Salamanders?

just want to see how people paint there salamanders. i do the snot green base coat, goblin green highlight, with a scorpion green extreme highlight.

what i do is prime black, then snot green base, blend straight to scorpion green.
if you can't blend i would suggest modest scorpion green highlights and then inking the model with green ink.

the flames are a big deal in my opinion and should be all over the damn place.

in this one he starts his lighter blends very "early" in the armor, almost at the 1/2 point of any surface (of the green blends, that is):

on a side rant, i never jumped on the "chipped armor" battle wagon. its been way done way too much, and is becoming the new NMM of the late 2000s.
oh crap, did i just say "battle wagon" instead of just "wagon"? too much time with the orks.

I've found that the trick is to mix sunburst yellow into the snot green to develop the highlights. It comes out much better than using scorpion green.

I Basecoat Dark Angels Green, then drybrush Snot green over the top. I then highlight with Scorpion green. It looks quite nice, if a little dark.

Basecoat white, a messey snot green layer, dark green INK, redo snot green except in recesses, highlight scorpion green.

Mine come out quite bright, and I really don't do any blending with the shadeing, but I like how it looks.

I am still playing around with the greens... but a spray green (matte). Black, silver, red and gunmetal.. Then dip into American Walnut Minwax... A bit shiny, but looks good.. Just trying to find the right green spray base coat.

Try The Army Painter's green base coat. It's expensive, but it looks really nice.

mind you this is my first try at painting minis.
I've done some random ral partha figures in the past,
but this is my first go at painting a whole army.

Some were old figures some i stripped some i just painted over.
Black primer, DA geen over that with mixing lighter greens for dry brushing highlights.
I think i'm going to go with a much darker color for the terminators thou.
And anything else i paint might also be a bit darker.
