Was looking through the FW website again and am consistently wooed by the thought of an Eldar Vampire Hunter. That said, this raises questions.
Shooting at Flyers in the Apoc rulebook refers to the old 4E skimmer rules in addition to 6's to hit and add 12" to range.
Given the way they are written, should this still be played as "glancing only",or simply adding a cover save at all times as skimmers moving over 12" now?
Additionally, Eldar Titan Holofields are described as ignoring hits on a 4+ (applied after hits are rolled, not a "save") in the Apoc book provided movement occurred on the part of the titan, and in IA-Apoc 2 this is rephrased to be a 4+ Invul save (applied after armor pen rolls) for the Cobra but not explicitly stated as applying to all other ETHF's.
For an Eldar Superheavy Flyer, a Vampire Raider or Hunter (As described in IA-Apoc 1), this raises several issues. Should it get:
A: both a 4+ cover save and the 4+ hit ignoring roll,
B: always be counted as glancing with the 4+ hit ignoring roll
C: one 4+ save (either cover or invul, since one can't take two saves) to pertain to the updated holofields in IA Apoc 2, no glancing downgrade
D: count as glancing hits only with a 4+ Invul.
My personal, first glance "RAW" stance would be "B" (as that's exactly what's described in the apoc rulebook and what was there when IA-Apoc1 was written and the rules for the Vampire re-redone), but it really could go any of these routes.
Thoughts?
