When are these supposed to come out?

Mr Mystery

Rumbling of the drums suggests September for the next entry in Realmgate Wars, so presumably between now and then.

I know that's not especially helpful, but best I can do.

Kirsten - they're Stick Pixies.

Hey, I used to do gardening - it's in my blood :P a whole army of killer plants led by Alarielle would look wonderful!

ooo forge world doing a fimir army for AoS perhaps?

Mr Mystery

It's a possibility.

Kirsten

Age of Sigmar allows a lot more of the esoteric stuff really given the smaller faction sizes. you couldn't do an army of them in Warhammer, but a faction with a character and a few units? much easier.

The unit is still available so it looks like a distinct probability.

From memory of old lore, a Fimir tribe is led by a female witch hag, with a group of magic users below her (if memory serves they were adept demonologists) and then came a warrior caste which had it own levels, noble, warrior and the like.

I'd say even without addition there'd be enough for an AoS faction, as Kirsten mentions they don't need to be the sprawling affairs WFB armies were.

That looks like Orion's spear in her hand. Guess she went full-on in taking on the wood elf aspects.

Beetle seems a bit odd, but I'm sure it makes sense, if I sit and think for a while about nature. And it's not the usual deer, wolves, etc.

WFB would have allowed for that kind of stuff, if they'd embraced Skirmish and Warbands rather than kicking them to the curb to focus on trying to sell larger armies. It really wasn't a problem with WFB that AoS solved. Much like how AoS is getting a load of attention that WFB wasn't getting, the problem is that GW ignored WFB and the things that'd help it, until they killed it and replaced it. It's like someone neglecting their pet and watching it die of hunger, thirst, and a lack of social interaction, taking it out back to shoot it, and bringing home a new puppy they actually act like they care about, and everyone acts like the new puppy is so much better than the old one because the new puppy is full of energy.

On the subject of Fimir I stuck it I my search engine and turned up this little gem.

http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/2014/04/07/bizarre-bestiary-fimir/

It's a really interesting look at how a race is created for one of these games and a glimpse into the craziness of early GW.

I'd always wondered about the Zoats...

I wish more fantasy went back to folklore for inspiration really. Theres so much weird and cool stuff, I particularly like japanese folklore, but everyone just prefers to tread the tired old tropes instead, not that most SF is any better though as they all want to be star wars, starship troopers, terminator and aliens.

Generally a whole lot darker as well, if you want horrific baddies go to folklore.

For some reason I get the feeling that anything living can become one of Allarielle's tree zombies as the second picture shows ghouls who have been turned fighting against their former undead brethren. I have to say that I am liking the look of Allarielle's war form as it appears to give several nods to the old Orion and Ariel models from way back in 5th edition.

Ahhhh, those were the days. Back when you did not need to spend £300+ to have an army.

She's going to be an amazing model (I hope) as will the rest of the Sylvaneth releases. It's good to see that they are fleshing out the smaller "sub"-factions and turning them into fully fledged independent fighting forces. I'm also very curious to see how Alarielle stacks up to Nagash and Archaon in terms of rules given that all three are demi-gods/deities.

I would say that she will be more of a support character. Whilst she will be able to hold her own in combat, it will be what she does for your army that will probably be her main strength. Back when she was the Everqueen of Ulthuan she made a High Elf army fairly resilient and will likely do the same for the Sylvaneth in this incarnation.

What I am curious to see is if she still has the ability to harm the forces of Chaos.

I still be using her as the original Everqueen, in Kings of War if the model is good that is :)

And what do my Elf Eyes See?

Well....some kind of four armed Treebeasty

Some kind of Treebeasty with a massive bow

Further evidence we're getting two types of Dryad Ghosty Elf Thing Bushes.

Flargle!

👍🏻👍🏻.

Two thumbs. Really considering the WHW AoS event looks like with this and the expected release date of the Generals Handbook there could really be something to see.

Exciting times for a really rather good game :)

best piece of artwork yet, Alarielle looks amazing - I am excited to see her model. I think it will be a "must buy" for me. Not sure on the Sylvaneth themselves though - I may just scratchbuild make my own plant creatures for her. Perhaps a Poison Ivy influence.

I was told at Warhammerfest to expect this next book around September, from what the guy could remember....

But I'm now thinking we'll see it a lot sooner - possibly as part of the alleged Summer Campaign?

Kirsten

Mr Mystery

Yup.

Been a few weeks since a mainstream release.

MORE PLS GW.

And I'd like to dedicate this next track to the Goddess Alarielle.

I'm thinking I could make a giant "Little shop of horrors" style one for a centrepiece (counts as "treeman" maybe?) with the smaller triffid-like ones being Dryads. Sort of a Dark sylvaneth.

The AoS open day is August so I'd expect to see the book there (I'd hope for early purchases just at the event). I'm liking the slightly slower pace of releases at the moment I even really rather liked the Armoured box painting guides they taught me some new tricks.
