I'll just park these here.

As seen here, and available at Warhammerfest this weekend :) (https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/blog/blog.jsp?_requestid=627755)

that is a bit nice

Yup.

I'm liking what I can only call the dirtier aesthetic.

I am liking all the guns...

There's many to like.

Very Ion. Much Pulse. So missile. Wow.

That is a really nice redesign. I wonder if FW will be revisiting all of the Tau flyers over time?

Of course, being impressed by this is probably treasonours - as the Regimental Standard tells us, we must remember that Tau technology is inferior to that of the noble Guardsman (https://regimental-standard.com/2016/03/04/tau-technology-inferior-2/) :)

Oh sweet, buttery Jesus. I liked the old Barracuda, but that baby is definitely pulling me back towards 40K.

I'm especially liking the larger array of weapon options. She'll be a proper Air Supremacy Fighter with those upgrades! :D

lots of shots from all those burst cannons. or rail gun and ion rakers tempting too. lovely. always a little wary of resin aircraft, but might need one of these.

Mr Mystery

Depending on option limitations, reckon I'd go for the Railgun and Ion Rakers. At that point it becomes a threat to everything on the board, which is nice!

Kirsten

yeah that would probably be my preferred option. the possibility of all those burst cannons though, much dakka, very pew, so spinning

Mr Mystery

Aye.

And missiles.

Ion Cannon, T-L Missile Pods + Cyclic Ion Blasters - to small to be Rakers like the Ghostkeel has - is a whole lot of S7 diddly and a decent amount of S8 Blast diddly. Wondering if that's a Long-Barreled Burst Cannon or a Heavy Burst Cannon in the nose, and whether we'll get a proppa Railgun or just a Heavy Rail Rifle. Railgun on a Flier would be sweeet.

At the very least, those spare parts will help out with some Leman Russ conversions. That Railgun will make a beautiful Vanquisher Cannon.

Just so it can fly backwards when it shoots the @#$% thing, hu CG?

CoffeeGrunt

Haha, maybe it has to move at half speed the next turn after firing? Funny thing is that those Ion Blasters being on swivels means this baby has a pretty solid ability to shoot down fliers that are chasing it.

Is it a fighter?
A bomber?
Or a gunship?

Stupid new rules.

CoffeeGrunt

All of the above depending on how you load it up, I think.

Speaking of loading it out....

It's been cast up with holes for magnets.....

Probably neither as I do not think that FW already updated to DftS.

Bligh said he was waiting for his team to finish their big projects (HH7 and be IA) and then they'd be able to go back and work on some updates and stuff to get out. FW updates for new flyers rules are amongst those.

Yarp.

Mr Shaun got one at Warhammerfest. To be honest, it's a good bit dinkier than I originally though, but it's a gorgeous looking kit! Oh, and I know the weapons it comes with. Ready?

2 x Long Barrelled Cyclic Ion Blasters
2 x Long Barrelled Burst Cannon
Swiftstrike Railgun
Barracuda Ion Cannon
Heavy Burst Cannon (may be long barrelled too, can't recall off the top of me head)
4, count 'em, 4 Support Missiles
Decoy Drone (mounted on the back)
2 x Missile Pods.

Hmmm. Has more weapons than it can actually fire. Not this again Forge World!

I imagine the Swiftstrike Railgun will be a weaker version that either gets more shots, or ignores Jink saves. The Barracuda Ion Cannon will be interesting, unsure how it will differ. Looking forward to seeing the rules for this. It might be the aircraft Tau need to actually be relevant in the skies! :)

Most of those weapons are just options you get in the kit, not everything it has!

I know, I meant that with the spinal weapon, two hard-mounted missile pods, and two turret-mounted weapons in the rear, that brings it up to 5, whereas a Flier can only fire 4 weapons at full BS. Same problem as my Avenger, which has six weapons, (though one is an utterly useless Heavy Stubber pointing backwards on the top with Skyfire, so it never gets fired.)

Mr Mystery

Missile Pod is twinlinked, I think?

We've not seen the rules yet, but that solves the issue.

Nothing wrong with having more weapons than you can fire, allows flexibility

CoffeeGrunt
05-18-2016, 03:57 AM
But muh guns, Kirsten. Muh guns.

Kirsten

Flexibility, and you can never have too many guns

CoffeeGrunt
05-18-2016, 04:23 AM
You can if you pay through the nose for them. Aircraft Missile Launchers are 40pts for a pair, don't get Frag mode, and mean something is going to snap fire. Meh, that's just my personal annoyances with little things in GW rulesets that just don't seem thought-through. :/
