So as much as I appreciate iTunes as a service, I am getting a bit fed up with their erratic billing process.

You can make an order, and not have it hit your funding account for up to a fortnight.

Is there anyway round that, or is just a suck it up or don't use it thing?

Essentially it's because the transactions are so small iTunes waits a while in the hope that you'll spend more money in the meantime so they minimise the number of credit card transaction fees they have to pay (ie rather than paying a fee on every individual $2 song they bundle it up so if you buy ten over the course of a week it's a single $20 transaction).

So to answer your question - no there isn't aside from spend more money at the time.

It can be annoying but yeah, its to reduce transaction fees, you should get instant access to the thing you paid for though and any transaction over i think £5 is billed instantly
