And an example of a Stormcast Chamber....

http://cdn.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Stormcast-Organization.jpg

My bet? Cavalry, and other units more suited to open field warfare.

I'm bang up to date on the background, and something I've twigged since the rumours of Stormcast Cavalry? So far, their battles have been predominantly siege and city fighting. And the Stormcast are incredibly well suited to such endeavours. Well armoured, well disciplined, and very potent when the enemy struggles to bring superior numbers to bear.

But take them out of that, and you've got a largely infantry force. Which is great for a shield wall, but not so good when your for has cavalry. Cavalry were a historical game changer for damned fine reasons.

It seems inconceivable that someone as well versed in war as Sigmar would overlook that. Indeed, in the infancy of The Empire, he made good use of an allied tribes cavalry innovations, such as stirrups and lances (look up the difference such things make...)

So where are they?

Simple answer? The Extremis Chamber. The Warrior Chambers went to war first, as the opening gambits involved taking Chaos forces by surprise, and driving them from cities and strongpoints. Safe to say that's been a solid success so far.

And we know that Archaon is gathering his forces to counter attack. And that is where the Extremis and Auxiliary Chambers seem likely to come in.

So I wager Extremis Chambers are Cavalry based, including their own command - after all you need a commander well versed in the application of cavalry to really make it work.

Auxiliary? That's harder to say for certain, but I swear I read mention of a mechanical cannon being deployed in Chamon?

Stromcast cavalry they'd be massive!!

Wouldn't prosecutors fill that niche?

I'd quite like to see something else for AoS to be honest. I'm sure Stormcast Cavalry would be very nice miniature wise. But I want to see more Of the other factions of AoS the Fyreslayers have whetted my appetite and I want to see more of what the realms have to offer.

Prosectuors could, but only to a degree.

Their role so far has been portrayed largely as scouts, being sent ahead, and to relieve pressure on the shield wall by knacking middle to rear ranks. Plus, they don't have any fast line breaking units at the moment. Prosectuors can disrupt the enemy, but Cavalry can drive them from the field.

There's also the assumption that Sigmar can only Stormcastificate humans....who knows what we might see in this release?

They could be mounted on pegasi perhaps? Or even Griffons.

Dracoths?

May be non-Stormcast troops attached to the Warrior chambers in the style of Roman Auxiliaries?

I'm rooting for a monster-sized stormcast. Or sigmar!

I would put that in the Auxiliary Chamber.

It has to be something extreme.

Auxiliary Chamber could be a way to get Bretonnia and Empire straight into it.

Mr Mystery

Could be an Archaonesque book?

Sigmar, Exceedingly Heavy Cavalry (a good counter to Varanguard), and perhaps something else?

We've not seen any Stormcast Wizards so far - just Warrior Priests.

I agree with grimmas and would prefer to see another new faction instead but I did think the Stormcasts needed cavalry so will be happy to see that. If I was to speculate, id say it might be a kit like the Fyreslayers recently got with a beast that can have different riders on top.

I want dracoth cavalry.

Mostly so I can swipe the mounts and use them for other things; the one in the starter box is both far too expensive and molded the wrong way to be useful.

I think I'd question your sanity if you didn't 😉

I'm beginning to feel that cavalry might be a bit tame for something called an Extremis Chamber. I'm thinking its got to be something that's just too dangerous to use in all but the worst scenarios, something perhaps a bit difficult to control or contain once released. Might be those Stormcasts who've lost their humanity we have discussed before and seeing as it's AoS they'll be riding monsters and be on FIRE.

Mr Mystery

No no no.

Too dangerous to use. Lack of humanity. Difficult to contain or control once released.

That's Donald Trump you're thinking of.

Donald Trump on FIRE!! I bet some would pay big for that.

(Not that I concern myself with the politics of the colonies generally)

I'm wondering if Stormcast mounts would be relatively unarmoured?

If they were heavily barded, such as Empire Knights, then the models could look very garish?

The current Stormcast are COMPLETELY GILDED. I think we can safely assume that 'garish' is part of their job description. :p

I'm not sure we'll see anything new that isn't in the Battletome myself, but there are a new Starter Set only models that could be new models or release the ones from that box. Also I want a Gryph Hounds box.
Perhaps a rebox of Demigryphs as Free Peoples cavalry?

"There was much rejoicing following the recovery of Ghal Maraz, yet Sigmar did not take up the weapon himself. Though desperate to join the fight in the Mortal Realms, the God-King understood that his place was in Sigmaron, overseeing the war. And so he took the God Breaker to the Chamber Extremis, where he unlocked his most powerful weapon: the first Stormcast Eternal, the Celestant-Prime."

Just seen on face book. Dracothian Guards are going to be in and they're Dracoth cavalry.

Mr Mystery

Yup. And a new Knight Heraldor. Allegedly.

I'm wondering if they've confused the Heraldor with the Lord Relictor, currently only available in the boxed set?

Either way, can't wait for piccies.

And something called a Star Drake no info but that's gotta be a Dragon and there can never be too many dragons.

Pretty much exactly what I was hoping for/expecting, look like the one from the starter set basicly. I reckon they might get a battletome too (Mechanicus got 2 books after all so there it is possible for an army to split like that)

£15 Battletome, according to the rumours.

Do we think they'll be bits In the kit to make a Celestant?

I reckon it's Kitbashable if nothing else.

Another thread has them. It is a Heraldor, only this time he isn't looking inside the trumpet.
